The Senior Accountant will play a key role in managing the general ledger preparing accurate financial reports ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and supporting strategic financial planning. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical accounting expertise a deep understanding of the financial services industry and a proactive approach to improving processes and controls.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and review monthly quarterly and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP and company policies.
Oversee general ledger activities including reconciliations journal entries and monthend close processes.
Ensure compliance with applicable financial regulations (e.g. SEC FINRA SOX etc.).
Collaborate with internal teams to analyze financial results and provide insights for decisionmaking.
Coordinate with external auditors during audits and prepare required documentation.
Maintain and improve internal controls accounting systems and procedures.
Assist with budgeting forecasting and variance analysis.
Provide guidance and mentorship to junior accounting staff.
Support strategic initiatives such as system implementations process automation and regulatory reporting.
Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance or related field; CPA or equivalent certification strongly preferred.
5 years of progressive accounting experience preferably within the financial services industry.
Strong knowledge of GAAP and familiarity with financial services regulations and reporting standards.
Proficiency in accounting software (e.g. QuickBooks NetSuite SAP) and Microsoft Excel.
Strong analytical and problemsolving skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
Detailoriented with strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
