About This Role
Textron Systems located in Wilmington MA is accepting applications for the role of Director of Engineering. The successful candidate will demonstrate experience in supporting multidisciplinary engineering teams with a focus on developing talent and mentorship. This leader will be responsible for supporting program and product development teams to solve complex engineering challenges and to work closely with the Program Directors to execute programs on cost and schedule. Candidate will work directly with Program Directors and senior executives to consult coach and advise on the product development lifecycle product strategy technology solutions and engineering process. The ideal candidate will have several years in product development in the aerospace and defense industry and be ready to take their knowledge and experience to a leadership role in a growing innovative engineering company. The individual will have the opportunity to optimize the design development processes and guide the exceptional technical talent of the firm as it continues to grow and expand into new and adjacent spaces.
Responsibilities
Provide technical oversight for the Engineering organization and crossdisciplinary engineering teams.
Provide direction integration and supporting resolution of crossteam technical issues
Establishing engineering process and procedures for the Wilmington business
Enforcing engineering processes to ensure timeliness content and quality of engineering products and compliance with customer requirements
Mentor to engineers for career path identification training and professional development of engineering staff.
Identifying new technology development opportunities including IRAD investments
Work with Chief Engineers to lay out Technology roadmaps
Member of Engineering Technology Council
Required Qualifications
Masters Degree in Engineering/Science
Minimum of 15 years experience in progressively increasing levels of leadership responsibility
Must be able to obtain Top Secret Level Security Clearance
Experience in the defense industry is a plus
