About the Position:
We are seeking a Finishing Machine Operator Milling (Planer Operator) who is responsible for performing various tasks to set up and operate assigned machines; Operates manual milling equipment according to established procedures and processes to accurately finish material to customer specification; Ensures quality via quality check post finish. Job complexity ranges from simple highly repetitive tasks to repetitive but difficult tasks congruent to incumbents experience.
- Calibrates appropriately to complete accurate layout and centering of material per customer drawing/spec sheets.
- Loads and unloads material with the aid of a forklift magnets chains slings or an overhead crane positioning material as required.
- Able to read and understand track sheets and work with crew lead and supervisor on due dates.
- Understands how to set up parts level and square for machining.
- Inspects the quality of the material during and after the procedure being performed to the material.
- Uses measuring instruments as necessary including but not limited to measuring tape laser level and standard levels.
- Checks identification on all material handled by stamping or marking with necessary numbers when required.
- Delivers material to next area of operation as required.
- Maintains a clean and safe work environment and abides by all plant safety regulations and work rules.
- Performs safety inspections on cranes chains slings and magnets.
- Perform chipping and grinding of molds to customer specifications: remove any excess iron clean grooves inside molds patch damaged sections grind out excess finish grind chipping work.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements and Qualifications:
- Must pass measurement test.
- Must be able to work with Safe work habits.
- Able to perform work of a semirepetitive nature using 7 to 8 lb. chipping guns.
- Able to read blueprint drawings.
- Able to withstand prolonged periods of standing and bending and heavy lifting.
- Must be able to pass physical requirements.
- Must be willing to work flexible hours and mandatory overtime.
- Ability to train and receive certification on Overhead Crane.
- Ability to lift 30 60 pounds.
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or GED
