Job Description
Job Responsibilities
- Gathering collecting and assessing intelligence related to security threats.
- Surveillance of designated groups.
- Monitor and identify inmates who are seen associating with gang members.
- Interview and photograph all new arrivals.
- Complete paperwork/packets on inmates who are suspected to be involved in gang activity.
- Assist contraband staff in searching cells of suspected gang members.
- Monitor inmate phone calls.
- Complete all other tasks assigned by the statewide STG coordinator assistant statewide coordinator or STG analyst.
Must successfully complete eight (8) week SCDC Basic Training upon hire.Minimum and Additional Requirements
State of South Carolina Minimum Requirements:
A high school diploma and experience in Correctional Security or Police work.
SCDC Minimum Requirements:(Or an acceptable equivalency as approved by the Division of State Human Resources).Must be a us citizen age 18 or over have a high school diploma or GED & have a valid drivers license.
Tattoos: must not be offensive and/or gang related or visibly located on the face or head. Tattoos on the neck will be evaluated on a casebycase basis.
Cannot have been convicted of a crime with a maximum allowable sentence of one year or more or a fine of $1000.
Must pass a physical exam administered by SCDC.
Must successfully complete the correctional officer basic certification course within first six (6) months of placement into the position.
