Job Description
Position Summary:
Diagnoses and treats diseases injuries and malformations of teeth and gums and related oral patient to determine nature of condition utilizing dental radiographs dental instruments and other diagnostic procedures. The patient population makeup for the Pediatric Dentist will consist primarily of children 0 to 12 years of age.
Essential Functions of the Job:
- Coordinates the preparation of reports and written documentation as required by the department company state and federal agencies.
- Consults with the patients and advises them of their dental status prescribes the treatment required provides risks and alternatives and documents according to department company state and federal agency guidelines.
- Cleans restores extracts and replaces teeth using rotary and hand instruments dental appliances medications and surgical equipment.
- Treats soft hard tissues diseases of the oral cavity; performs surgery on oral tissues when necessary; renders prosthetic treatment when approved and indicated; designs and places orthodontic devices to correct minor malocclusion of teeth and renders any and all dental services to restore the oral health of the patient.
- Provides preventive dental services to patient such as applications of fluoride and sealants to teeth and provides education in oral health and dental hygiene.
Additional Duties and Responsibilities:
- Complies with established departmental policies and procedures objectives quality assurance program safety environmental and infection control standards.
- While adhering to providing high quality dental services the provider is encouraged to obtain 18 patient encounters per day on a monthly average.
- Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs current literature inservice meetings and workshops.
- May be asked to work with Residency programs as an Attending and may need to rotate to off locations to participate in said may include performing Teaching duties oversee Oral Conscious Sedation and/or Operating Room patient care.
- Attends meetings as required and participates on committees as directed.
- Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
Job Requirements
Experience Required:
- 2 years of pediatric dentist experience preferred.
- Experience supervising dental assistants preferred.
Education Required:
- DDS or DMD Degree.
- Completion of a US accredited Pediatric Residency Program.
Certification and Licenses Required:
- Licensed to practice dentistry in the State of California.
- Pediatric Residency Program Certificate.
- Pediatric Dentist Board Certification preferred.
- DEA License.
- CPR/BLS certificate.
Verbal and Written Skills Required to Perform the Job:
- Bilingual helpful (English/Spanish).
- Good oral and written communication.
- Good communications skills with the public and other employees.
- Patience and understanding toward others.
Technical Knowledge and Skills Required to Perform the Job:
- Computer skills involving word processing email and dental management programs such as EPIC are preferable.
Equipment Used:
- Dental operatory equipment laboratory sterilization equipment and front office equipment.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:
- Mostly sitting position while bending forward to treat patients.
- May be required to work some evenings and/or Saturdays.
- May be required to travel to multiple locations.
Universal Requirements:
Preemployment requirements include I9 physical positive background and reference check results complete application new hire orientation preemployment PPDs. Compliance with all mandated vaccinations and all boosters is a term and condition of employment.
