ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS NURSE EDUCATOR:
- Assess educational needs and develop/coordinate necessary education programs.
- Coordinate orientation programs for new clinical staff.
- Act a general resource for nursing staff.
- Work with hospital leadership and staff to assess current educational needs and develops a plan to satisfy those needs.
- Collaborate with medical practitioners and CNO to incorporate nursing processes into the plan of care for patients.
- Provide educational leadership to patients and care providers to enhance specialized patient care within established clinical protocol.
- Assist patient and caregivers with education needs problem solution and health management across the continuum of care.
- Implement and deliver educational curricula as required by regulatory agencies such as Joint Commission CARF CMS and State agencies.
- Initiate clinical skills development programs for direct care staff.
- Educate direct patient care staff in the use of equipment supplies and coordinates inservice training for appropriate staff.
- Provide specialized nursing protocols for direct care staff.
- Develop training and implementation as needed.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS INFECTION CONTROL:
- Responsible for the daytoday operations of the organizations Infection Control Program.
- Ensures that the organizations Infection Control Program conforms with CDC guidelines and recommendations and other accrediting or regulatory standards and regulations.
- Responsible for maintenance and updating the organizations Infection Control Manual.
- Ensures that all personnel involved in infection control activities are appropriately trained and competent in infection control and coordinates the organizations ongoing surveillance of established infection control practices/procedures.
- Performs direct competency assessments of Infection Control Program Trainers and Competency Reviewers/Auditors.
- Supports the standardization of infection control practices through CommUnityCares network of health centers/operations.
- Makes recommendations regarding real or potential problems and improvement activities including appropriate and cost effective solutions to resolve them.
- As directed may participate in and/or lead committees related to and directly impacted by infection control.
- Supports organizational quality improvement initiatives with data support analysis and internal consulting.
- Develops policies and procedures that support key infection prevention and control functions.
- Acts as a resource for team members and leaders for all infection control related activities.
- Identifies investigates and reports health care associated infections among patients and team members.
- Maintains documentation of surveillance and audit activities.
- Provides infection prevention orientation and other inservice programs related to infection prevention.
- Collaborates and works with the Employee Health Nurse to provide direction regarding team member health issues such as exposures communicable diseases or other infection prevention or control related issues.
OTHER FUNCTIONS:
- Perform other functions and tasks as assigned.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
- Associate or Bachelors degree in Nursing or Education required. Masters degree in nursing or related field preferred.
- Three or more years clinical experience combined with/or related to teaching experience required.
- One or more years behavioral health experience required.
- Joint Commission OSHA CMS and other county state and federal regulatory agencies required.
LICENSES/DESIGNATIONS/CERTIFICATIONS:
- Current Texas or Multistate RN license is required.
- CPR and deescalation/restraint certification required (training available upon hire and offered by facility).
- American Heart or American Red Cross Instructor certification preferred.
- Satori Alternatives for Managing Aggression (SAMA) Instructor certification preferred.
- First aid may be required based on state or facility.
