VHIR offers a vacant position for a laboratory technician for the Nephrology and kidney transplantation Research Group.
Education and qualifications:
Required:
- CFGS or FP2 Certificate in Laboratory Techniques
- Accreditation to work with experimental animals
- Fluency in Catalan Spanish and English
Desired:
- Bachelors Degree in Biology
- Masters Degree in Clinical Research
Experience and knowledge:
Required:
- At least 2 years experience in laboratory work and animal work in researchrelated projects
- Previous experience in basic molecular biology techniques (PCR Western Blot ELISA etc.) and cell cultures
- Previous experience in Tcell and Bcell ELISPOT assays
- Laboratory management skills (analytical organizational and time management)
- Experience in animal (preferably mice and rats) handling product administration welfare monitoring and euthanasia
Desired:
- Computer skills for database creation/management

Main responsibilities and duties:
- Performance of immune monitoring assays such as Tcell and Bcell ELISPOT assay and ELISA.
- Flow cytometry and PCR techniques will be required in the laboratory.
- DNA/RNA extraction library preparation and nextgeneration sequencing (NGS) for clinical trials.
- Collaborate with the organization/design of experimental work.
- Generate and manage sample databases.
- Manage sample processing (blood spleen and bone marrow from both humans and animals).
- Animal work: Product administration blood sample collection welfare monitoring and euthanasia in accordance with approved protocols.
- Animal work: Harvesting and processing (either fixing or isolation of cells) organs and tissues
- Give support in basic laboratory tasks.
Labour conditions:
- Fulltime position: 40h/week
- Starting date: immediate
- Gross annual salary: 24.000 euros /// Salary ranges are consistent with our Collective Agreement pay scale)
- Contract: Technical and scientific activities contract linked to the project activities
