Job Description

AECOMs Blooming Programis currently seeking an Indigenous Engineering Internto be based out of ourEdmonton AB Canadaoffice. 

This is a temporary position expected to last 4 months starting as soon as possible.

 

AECOMs Blooming Program strives to create opportunities for Indigenous Youth. The program focuses on the development of Indigenous Youth in STEAM (Science Technology Engineering Arts and Math) through internships mentorships capacity development and postgraduate career opportunities. AECOM offers a wide variety of disciplines across our Canadian offices including planning & design engineering engagement and communications marketing economic development architecture and more. 

Our mission is to weave together the threads of education mentorship and practical industry experience into a tapestry of opportunity. By focusing on empowerment and capacity development we strive to eliminate barriers and cultivate a diverse and inclusive workforce that creates an environment to learn grow and build brighter futures for Indigenous Youth. 

 

Job Responsibilities Include but not limited to: 

  • Provide engineering services to projects either individually or as part of a larger project team. 
  • Participating in strategy and planning for operations. 
  • Work with Indigenous Relations in Consultation & Community Engagement on projects within Canada. 
  • Field work involving travel & potentially long hours. 
  • Topographic and construction surveying 
  • Construction supervision and inspections 
  • Measuring and tracking quantities 
  • Calculations to ensure the accuracy of our designs and identify the need for adjustments 
  • Ensuring the projects needs are met in a timely and effective manner 
  • Working with and maintaining a positive relationship with clients and contractors 
  • Data input and analysis using spreadsheets and modeling software 
  • Calculating grades volumes distances etc. 
  • Compiling reports 
  • All AECOM employees are required to carry out their duties in a safe and responsible manner. 

 


Qualifications :

Minimum requirements: 

  • Currently enrolled in arelevant Engineering program 
  • Potential candidates must be First Nations Inuit or Metis and applicants must declare that they are in the application form and our HR management system if successful.  

Preferred Requirements: 

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills 
  • Open to mentorship & capacity development 
  • Ability to cocreate 
  • Accuracy with details is essential 
  • Familiar with materials testing procedures and construction coordination services 
  • Ability to read and interpret Civil construction drawings
