Contra Costa Health (CCH) is the largest department of the Contra Costa County government with over 4800 employees. CCH is an integrated system of health care services that covers health at every level: the individual the family and the community. For lowincome and uninsured residents of Contra Costa County CCH is the safety net providing medical services not available to them elsewhere. CCH is seeking to fill one (1) vacancy located in Martinez CA.
Health Services Finance is the centralized accounting department with a dedicated accounting unit for each program operated by Contra Costa Health. With the responsibility of managing a budget of nearly three billion dollars the Finance Department is seeking multiple qualified candidates to perform complex accounting work for the Mental Health Alcohol and Other Drugs Homeless Detention and Contra Costa Health Plan programs. Candidates will be matched with the program(s) that best fits their background and skill set and will report to the managers of these units.
The Health Services Accountants will be responsible numerous financial duties including monitoring program budgets overseeing preparation of monthly financial projections and statistical reporting managing grants and monitoring the associated grant audit reporting and regulatory requirements adapting to financial system changes responding to requests in a timely manner performing analysis of various financial reports directing or coordinating the work of other accounting staff and other assigned financial duties.

Competencies Required:

Education: Possession of a Bachelor degree from an accredited college or university with a major in business administration finance accounting or a closelyrelated field.
Experience: Three (3) years of fulltime or its equivalent experience as a professional accountant at least eighteen (18) months of which was in a health care organization or program.
Substitution: One additional year of additional qualifying experience may be substituted for the academic major. Additional qualifying professional accounting experience may be substituted for the required education on a year for year basis up to a maximum of two (2) years. No substitution is permitted for the eighteen (18) months of experience in health care organization or program.
The Virtual Oral Assessment is tentatively scheduled to take place via computer (remotely) during the week of May 23 2025.
The Virtual Oral Assessment will be administered remotely using a computer or mobile device such as a tablet or smartphone. You will need access to a reliable internet connection to take the assessment as well as a computer or mobile device with a camera.
The Human Resources Department may change the examination steps noted above in accordance with the Personnel Management Regulations and accepted selection practices.

DISASTER SERVICE WORKER
All Contra Costa County employees are designated Disaster Service Workers through state and local law. Employment with the County requires the affirmation of a loyalty oath to this effect. Employees are required to complete all Disaster Service Workerrelated training as assigned and to return to work as ordered in the event of an emergency.
