Job Summary

Reporting to the VP of the Sustain Management Office (SMO) the Senior Director of Workforce Productivity will work closely with senior operations leaders (COO SVP VP) and with department leaders (Executive Directors Directors of Operations) across Mass General Brigham. They will establish and implement a new workforce productivity strategy across all MGB entities and labor groups. The Senior Director of Workforce Productivity will lead a team of Sr. Consultants to establish productivity benchmarks set productivity targets provide guidance on staffing management and process improvement strategies and monitor progress towards goals.


Qualifications

Responsibilities:

  • Drive the development and lead the implementation of a new workforce productivity strategy across MGB entities and labor groups:

    • Work closely with the VP of the Sustain Management Office Sustain Workforce Core Team and Sustain Benchmarking & Productivity Initiative Team to implement a workforce productivity benchmarking targetsetting improvement framework and monitoring system across MGB entities and labor groups.

    • Collaborate with data and analytics teams to determine productivity benchmarks for each labor group and prioritize implementation sequence.

    • Partner with senior leaders and operational leaders across the system and serve as a subject matter expert on workforce productivity

    • Lead a team of 30 Super Users and Sr. Consultants to set productivity targets provide guidance on staffing management and process improvement strategies and monitor progress towards goals

    • Develop and implement policies and procedures for monitoring performance against productivity targets

    • Collaborate with finance leaders across MGB to build productivity targets into position control processes

    • Develop and implement policies and procedures for calculating benchmarks and adjusting productivity targets periodically

    • Develop measure and track key balance measures to ensure success of the program (e.g. patient safety department turnover employee satisfaction)

    • Educate stakeholders on workforce productivity standards tools and processes

    • Identify additional staffing needs to support implementation and continuous improvement across MGB

    • Communicate progress with Initiative Team Lead Core Team Lead VP of Sustain and escalate issues to Sustain Executive Steering Team as needed

  • Identify and launch benchmarking and productivity tool:

    • Partner with the MGB Digital team to develop an RFP and lead the selection process for a productivity benchmarking tool vendor

    • Lead the implementation of the productivity benchmarking tool in partnership with operational leaders across MGB

    • Act as business owner and primary liaison with benchmarking and productivity tool vendor

  • Lead change management efforts regarding workforce productivity across all MGB entities:

    • Identify key stakeholders across MGB entities and within MGB departments who will be impacted by this effort

    • Develop a stakeholder engagement strategy to manage largescale systemwide change

    • Establish regular communication with stakeholders to create a network of shared resources and best practices.

    • Collaborate with the Sustain Communications Team to develop and execute a communications plan specific to this work and ensure integration within the broader Sustain communications plan

    • Partner with HR Business Partners Organizational Development/Org Readiness teams to ensure team structures and role descriptions are in place to prepare for change.

  • Provide support for the Sustain Management Office including:

    • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Industrial Engineering Business Management Finance or a related field required. A Masters degree in Industrial Engineering Business Management Finance or a related field preferred

  • 810 years of experience working as a system leader consultant or project manager in largescale change initiatives

  • Experience in workforce management within healthcare including workforce analytics staffing and scheduling benchmarking and modeling preferred

  • In depth knowledge of hospital operations both clinical and nonclinical

  • Proficient with time and attendance and scheduling applications
