Job Description:
The Director of Institutional Compliance and Equal Opportunity at Kansas City University is responsible for the continued development implementation maintenance and evaluation of a universitywide compliance program and implementing equal opportunity compliance including Title VI Title VII and Title IX under existing university policies. The Director will coordinate and support compliance across the University with a focus on building compliance into workflows effective education and training and policy development with a service orientation towards all constituents. The Director promotes a culture of compliance and the highest standards of ethics and integrity. The Director reports to the Vice President of Legal Affairs.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist key stakeholders in developing and continuously improving a comprehensive approach to identifying assessing monitoring and controlling compliance risks. This will include the use of collaborative tools such as a compliance matrix and compliance calendar
- Encourage an ethical environment through a robust ethics and compliance education training program
- Promoting the Universitys conduct standards as well as appropriate compliance policies and procedures
- Institute and maintain an effective compliance communications strategy promoting awareness of University policy State and Federal laws that are relevant to the University and encourage reporting of suspected noncompliance
- Develop and maintain the University wide risk register and ensure clarity of roles and responsibilities for execution for management of those risks
- Conduct regular risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies for identified compliance risks
- Manage and coordinate activities of a University wide compliance committee
- Coordinate and oversee compliance related investigations when necessary
- Perform targeted compliance reviews in coordination with the academic research legal finance and other business units
- Serve as the designated Title IX Coordinator for the University and administer Universitys nondiscrimination policies and processes
- Intake reports of discrimination and harassment coordinate supportive measures for affected individuals manage or conduct investigations and facilitate internal hearings and decisions as necessary
QUALIFICATIONS
- Masters degree in a relevant field required; Juris Doctorate preferred
- Experience in a higher education institution and/or health care experience preferred
- Minimum of 7 years of professional job experience with demonstrated leadership in compliance
- Exceptionally talented in building and strengthening relationships among and between a variety of constituents both internally and externally
- Experience in equal opportunity compliance preferred
- Experience as a Title IX Coordinator preferred
