Reports to: Summer Camp Manager
Hourly rate: $14$17/hour depending on experience/certifications
Job Description:
Join Girlstarts efforts to educate and empower girls this summer! Girlstarts Summer Counselors (called STEM CREWCreative Resourceful Empowered Women) work directly with elementary and middle school girls leading handson science technology engineering and math activities at weekly inperson day camps in Austin TX. Enhance your leadership and teamwork skills improve your presentation and communication skills and build your problemsolving critical thinking and decisionmaking abilities all while being a positive and meaningful role model for girls!

Responsibilities:
- Lead camp activities focused on science technology engineering and math (previous STEM experience not required)
- Implement and run daily camp activities
- Learn and implement the Girlstart method within the camp environment
- Modify activities as needed to accommodate any unique camp scenarios
- Be prepared to organize materials practice technology etc.
- Contribute to weekly counselor huddles
- Facilitate classroom management techniques
- Act as a positive role model for girls
- HAVE FUN!!!
- Other duties as needed
Qualifications:
A minimum of 1 year of college courses completed or related experience is required.
- Positive friendly flexible and outgoing
- Selfmotivated with the ability to work as a team player and foster cooperative work
- Reliable dependable and timely
- Effective organization skills and ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
- Excellent communication skills
- Personal qualities of integrity credibility and a commitment to the mission of Girlstart
- Experience working at summer camps and/or informal education
- Classroom management skills helpful
- Ability to succeed in an informal/camp atmosphere
- Comfortable presenting to a group of girls
All STEM CREW Counselors Must:
- Attend mandatory (paid) training before camp (May 1923 & 2730: 9:30am4:30pm).
- Pass a background check be or become First Aid/CPR certified and obtain a Sexual Abuse Awareness certificate (Girlstart will provide additional information upon hire)
- Work the complete duration of the camp period: June 2August 1 (no camp June 1620 or June 30July 4)
- All time off must be arranged with the Camp Manager before May 23rd.
