Job Description
The FraunhoferGesellschaft () currentlyoperates 76 institutes and research institutions throughout Germany andisthe worlds leading applied research 30800 employees work with an annual research budget of 3 billion euros.
The SelfLearning Systems group at Fraunhofer IIS is part of the Precise Positioning and Analytics department and located at the institutes Nuremberg site. Our team members have diverse academic backgrounds from computer science and engineering to physics. We combine expertise in a range of advanced machine learning (ML) topics. One of our research goals is to provide robust and safe algorithmic solutions for control and decisionmaking tasks for systems in complex dynamic environments. To this end we employ deep learning in combination with reinforcementlearning techniques. We research dependable reinforcement learning i.e. we want to learn behaviors that are safe performant and explainable for many different tasks. There is a lot to learn and develop on the way and we are eager to hear about your ideas.
- You work on topics related to quantum circuit compilation
- You will update our literature overview on the state of the art in both RLbased quantum circuit compilation and LLMs and translations as applied to quantum computing
- You operate quantum computing frameworks like Qiskit
- You use existing and emerging quantum hardware in the Munich Quantum Valley
- You study in a physics mathematics or computer science program
- Youare familiar with at least one of these topics: autoencoders transformers reinforcement learning or graph neural networks
- You have first experience inpython programming and libraries like PyTorch TensorFlow NumPy and PyTorch geometric
- You are familiar with the topic of quantum computing and have experience with libraries like Qiskit
- Youspeak English fluently

Weekly working hours are determined by agreement. You can start from now on (as a student assistant from 10 to 15 hours a week). You can reduce your hours before exams and increase them during semester breaks. You can flexibly determine the working days.
