The Role

An opportunity exists for a suitably qualified Registered Nurse in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU)of Norwest Private Hospital.

Norwest Private Intensive Care Unit (ICU) is an innovative high functioning unit with 19 are looking for an enthusiastic highly motivated Nurse Educator to join our individual will have postgraduate qualifications in critical care nursing and a Certificate IV in Training and role will attract a dynamic person with outstanding communication and leadership Nurse Educator will demonstrate a commitment to lifelong learning and have an ability to network within the company and support the professional development of the ICU team.

Norwest ICU is a mixed surgical and medical unit with key specialities including Cardiothoracic Neurosurgical Orthopaedic and General ICU team have significant roles in interventional and noninterventional cardiology provide treatment and care to acutely unwell patients admitted through the Emergency Department and have a key role with the deteriorating patient and the Medical Emergency Team (MET).The ICU provide significant clinical leadership and input throughout the hospital.

The Nurse Educator will be responsible for:

  • Delivering and/or organising education of existing and new staff within the ICU
  • Participate in clinical governance hospital wide committees
  • Reviewing policies at both local and corporate levels incorporating best practice and delivering effective education accordingly
  • Demonstrate strong mentoring and leadership skills
  • Networking across Healthscope Critical Care Cluster and more broadly to share innovation and promote nursing in the ICU
  • Professional development opportunities
  • Coordination of the Transition to Critical Care program is designed for nurses with minimal intensive care experience equipping them with the tools and resources to safely and competently care for the critically ill patient
  • Providing support and guidance to the Clinical Nurse Educator in ICU
  • Key lead quality improvement initiatives

The Nurse Educator will fulfil their role with the support of the Nurse Unit Manager (NUM) and the Senior Nurse Educator.

Essential Criteria:

  • Registered Nurse with current AHPRA Registration
  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment
  • Post graduate qualification in related specialty area
  • Previous clinical nurse educator experience
  • Demonstrated experience in eLearning platform
  • High degree of computer literacy including Microsoft Office
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

Desirable:

  • Masters of Critical Care Nursing (or working towards)
  • Masters of Education (or working towards)
