COMPANY OVERVIEW:
MOBIS Technical Center of North America is the Research & Development Center for Hyundai MOBIS a Tier 1 supplier and an affiliate under Hyundai Motor Group. MOBIS produces and supplies a wide variety of automotive components to customers including component modules (chassis cockpit and frontend module) core system ecofriendly and DASmechatronics. Mobis delivers the design and development of advanced engineering autonomous driving infotainment component modules safety brake and steering systems lamp ICS/electronics and software development solutions that consider the safety and convenience of our customers as well as the future.
POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Battery Pack Resident Engineer will be spending most of their time at customers facility supporting the prototype vehicle build and first response to any test vehicle fleet issue performing initial diagnostics. It is a unique position where this role will learn fast about the battery system and its interaction with vehicle and other systems.
Typical responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Attending data collection and initial analysis for test vehicle fleet issue
- Driving the issue resolution internally and report out to customer. Also representing Mobis in the customer meetings with other suppliers
- Ability to understand the customer requirements and specifications.
- Interfacing with the cross functional team to drive the rootcause analysis and help define the solution.
- Communicate with customers regarding product design and milestone definition and review.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Basic xEV electrical architecture and operating principle
- Critical Thinking
- Complex ProblemSolving Skills and experience with problem solving tools (Fishbone; 5Why etc.)
- Organizational Skills
- Expert in vehicle measurement and calibration tools (VectorCAN; ETAS/INCA etc.)
- Proficiency in MS Project Word Excel and PowerPoint
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION/YEARS OF EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelors degree in electrical/electronic engineering
- 3 years of automotive product development experience
- 1 year of experience with HV battery system (HEV/PHEV/BEV)
- High level of English verbal written and interpersonal skills to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders
DESIRED SPECIALIZED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
- MS degree in Computer Science Computer Engineering or Electronics/Electrical Engineering
- Knowledge of applicable safety standards including ISO IEC ASPICE and others.
- Familiarity with product development in compliance with cybersecurity and functional safety processes and methods.
- Korean language skills a plus.
- Position requires upto 70% local travel.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Position requires occasional or frequent moderate physical activity.
EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK:
- A typical work week is 40 hours/week.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Office work is normally performed in a typical interior work environment which does not subject the employee to any hazardous or unpleasant elements.
- Shop or laboratory work involves some exposure to moderate risk of accident and requires following basic safety precautions.
- Infield PG or track testing involves frequent exposure to unpleasant elements such as extreme temperatures dirt dust fumes smoke loud noises chemicals etc.
- Stress may occur periodically.
