About the Role
This role provides first line support of the Laboratory Information System (LIS). The role includes development and enhancement documentation and training relating to the LIS. The Pathology Information Officer will also be required to support other IT systems utilised in Pathology and may be required to install IT hardware at St Vincents Hospital and at St Vincents Pathology collection centres.
- Provide support and troubleshoot all Pathology IT issues
- Support the maintenance and development of St Vincents Hospital internet and intranet
- As requested write data extracts for managing reporting of Pathology statistics
- Support and implement HL7 integration for internal and external systems
- Support implementation of electronic medical record at St Vincents Hospital
Classifications for this position will range from classification range HS4 HS29 ($83647.20 $92482.00 per annum pro rata) possibility of over award for the right candidate
Your Contribution

About Pathology
St Vincents Pathology provides pathology services to St Vincents Hospital Melbourne to a number of Private Hospitals and to Specialist and general practitioners in and around Melbourne. Via a network of over 60 accreditated Pathology Collection Centres located across Metropolitan Melbourne St Vincents Pathology services privately referred patients in the community.

POSITION PURPOSE
This role provides first line support of the Laboratory Information System (LIS). The role includes development

be required to support other IT systems utilised in Pathology and may be required to install IT hardware at
St Vincents Hospital and at St Vincents Pathology collection centres.
POSITION DUTIES
- Provide support and troubleshoot all Pathology IT issues
- Support the maintenance and development of St Vincents Hospital internet and intranet
- As requested write data extracts for managing reporting of Pathology statistics
- Support and implement HL7 integration for internal and external systems
- Support and implement change initiatives as directed
- Support Pathology reporting to My Health Record
- Support implementation of electronic medical record at St Vincents Hospital
- Liaise with LIS vendor and hospital IT relating to LIS/CIS upgrades
- Participate in and support the change control process for informatics systems and processes
- Responsible for documenting changes to systems and gaining relevant approval for changes
- Test and validate changes to programs after creation/modification and before release to general users
- Communicate to internal and external stakeholder service enhancements updates and disruptions
- Provide remote and onsite support to medical practices utilising St Vincents Pathology
- Engage with external clinics and clinicians to provide access to electronic results
- Facilitate staff onboarding training and access requirements for LIS and IT Systems as required
- Perform audits of user accounts access and other quality audits as requested
- Identify report and actively participate in risk mitigation.
- Engage in and contribute to quality improvement initiatives.
- Ensure informatics documentation are in accordance with the St Vincents Quality Management System and compliance with regulatory and legislative requirements in relation to informatic.
- Participate and support relevant activities to ensure compliance with NATA accreditation in ISO 15189 and NPAAC requirements TGA cGMP and other regulatory and legislative requirements in relation to informatic.

Health and Safety
- Attend general hospital orientation within 3 months of commencement

- Complete required Fire and Emergency Training annually
- Complete required Workplace Culture and Equity Training annually
- As required comply with fittesting and PPE requirements
- Participate in reporting and analysis of safety and quality data including risks or hazards
- Report any hazards near misses and incidents (regardless of whether an injury occurred or not) into Riskman and the Laboratory Quality Management System
- Identify and report any variance to expected standard and minimising the risk of adverse outcomes
- Supervisor more junior staff (if applicable)
SELECTION CRITERIA
ESSENTIAL REGISTRATION LICENSE OR QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Tertiary qualification in Information Technology or Laboratory Science and/or relevant industry experience.
