Not subject to residency requirements.Operates ash handling equipment and performs related ash activities at the Ash Disposal Facility (ADF).
What you will do
- Maintains permit compliance with appropriate testing reporting operations logs and record keeping as needed.
- Operates ashhandling equipment such as conveyors tractors bulldozers ash trucks shredding equipment etc.
- Operates bulldozers and trucks for other than ADF purposes when required.
- Keeps the ADF equipment neat clean and operating properly.
- Assures that all major and auxiliary equipment are operating properly.
- Assists in maintaining ADF structures.
- Spots and loads or unloads ash cars/trucks at the ADF.
- Assists in the loading and placement of coal combustion byproducts.
- Maintain and grooms coal combustion byproduct cells.
- Perform minor maintenance preventative maintenance and routine yard maintenance activities.
- Calibrate and zero conveyor and weigh scales as needed.
- Collect coal combustion byproduct and ADF samples and perform testing as needed.
- Performs LockOut/TagOut (LOTO) activities.
- Performs all work according to established procedures and safety practices.
- Performs other duties which are similar related and incidental to the position.
- High School Diploma or GED Required
Other Requirements
- Must possess a valid drivers license.
- This job is covered by the Department of Transportation regulations on drug and alcohol testing (CFR 49 Parts 40 and 199) and is subject to drug testing according to said regulations.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
- General knowledge of mathematics and science math at the high school level.
- Ability to operate ash and heavy equipment.
- Possess mechanical ability.
- Ability to obtain and hold a Commercial Drivers License prior to the end of the trial period.
- Ability to obtain and hold an Iowa Landfill Operator Certification prior to the end of the trial period.
- Basic computer skills required.
- Ability to perform the physical requirements for the job.
- Ability to work effectively in a culturally diverse work group.
- According to location may be required to operate forklifts.
