Head Football Coach Job Description 10 month position
Position Summary
North Lawndale College Prep (NLCP) is seeking a dedicated and passionate Head Football Coach to lead its high school football program. This role plays a critical part in equipping studentathletes with the skills discipline and character necessary for success both on and off the field. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong leadership a deep understanding of the game and the ability to inspire mentor and motivate young athletes. The Head Coach is expected to promote a culture of teamwork academic achievement and sportsmanship while upholding the values and mission of NLCP.
Reports To:
Principal or designee
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan organize and implement a comprehensive football program for studentathletes.
- Develop practice schedules and game strategies that promote team growth and individual improvement.
- Teach fundamental and advanced football techniques rules and tactics.
- Lead and coordinate the offseason training program including strength and conditioning skill development and teambuilding activities.
- Foster a positive team culture focused on respect accountability and academic success.
- Supervise assistant coaches and ensure compliance with school league and state athletic regulations.
- Monitor the academic performance of players and promote academic achievement.
- Assist studentathletes in the college football recruiting process including highlight film creation outreach to college programs and guidance on eligibility requirements.
- Ensure the safety and wellbeing of all team members during practices and competitions.
- Maintain equipment and oversee the use of school facilities.
- Communicate effectively with players parents school staff and the broader community.
- Represent the school at league meetings and coordinate with athletic administration.
Qualifications:
- IHSA coaching certification
- Preferred Bachelors degree in Physical Education Sports Management or Education
- CPR/First Aid Certification
- Concussion awareness training
- Preferred to have a valid Professional Educator License (PEL)
- Previous coaching experience at the high school.
- Knowledge of NFHS rules and regulations and state athletic association requirements.
- Strong leadership communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to serve as a positive role model for studentathletes.
Work Environment & Schedule:
- Practices and games often take place after school hours and may include weekends.
- Requires outdoor work in varying weather conditions.
- Travel to away games and events is expected.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
- Regularly required to stand walk sit and interact with students and staff.
- Occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds.
- Frequent computer work required.
- The noise level in the work environment can be moderate to loud especially in collaborative classroom settings and school wide activities.
