AIS is a leading production fastener company in the Midwest providing MSC a solid growth platform for expansion in the OEM fasteners market and complements our fastener and VMI solutions as well as our core metalworking and MRO business.

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Works seamlessly with Customer Service and Sales to provide pricing to new and existing customers.
- Analyze customer drawings and part description(s) to determine if adequate information has been received to create RFQ.
- Determine appropriate suppliers to send RFQs.
- Work with Suppliers to answer deviation requests or provide additional information
- Analyze returned RFQs to determine Supplier that best matches customer requirements.
- Learns alternate sources for products.
- Identifies most effective as well as alternate sources for product.
- Develops internal crossfunctional relationships to enhance the purchasing process.
- Ensures timeliness of quote delivery and the quality of the quote delivered through frequent interaction with Suppliers purchasing and sales.
- Meets with Quotation and Sourcing teams regularly to discuss and resolve underperforming commodities.
- Builds and maintains supplier database by commodity and country of origin.
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:
- An Associates Degree in Business or the equivalent is required
- 5 years experience in sourcing or purchasing OEM components Fasteners preferred.
SKILLS:
- Computer literacy and proficiency Microsoft software suite is required.
- Advanced Excel experience a plus (vlookup pivot tables etc)
- Fastener industry knowledge or experience required.
- Basic knowledge of descriptive statistics is required.
- Excellent organizational and planning skills are required.
- Basic negotiation and follow up skills are required.
- Excellent oral and written communications skills are also required.
- Creative thinking approach to finding new suppliers
