You will be updated with latest job alerts via emailKendrick Recruitment is seeking an experienced and detailoriented Accounting Officer for a luxury safari camp in Tanzania. This is a fantastic opportunity for an individual with strong financial management skills a keen eye for detail and the ability to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic environment.
Key Outputs:
Financial Management:
Ensure correct authorisation and allocation of business expenditure
Lead with an independent mind questioning the need for proposed business expenditure and ensuring values are fair and within acceptable market ranges
Accurately record transactions on a daytoday basis (using Panstrat system or manual systems)
Prepare supplier payment requests
Interpret and analyse management accounts
Assist with payroll preparation and reconciliation
Collate and resolve general ledger queries
Resolve all queries on balance sheet reconciliation
Manage and update stock sheets
Reporting:
Meet nonnegotiable finance deadlines
Provide timely feedback on management accounts to the Regional Finance Manager
Drive monthly finance meetings to discuss financial performance with feedback communicated to the Regional Finance Manager
Assist in compiling budgets and quarterly forecasts
Assist lodge managers and the Director with queries
Assist with yearend audit
Reconcile various accounts including clearing accounts and interlodge transactions
Manage and supervise reports to ensure duties are performed in line with output requirements
Internal Control Environment & Safeguarding Company Assets:
Maintain stock control procedures
Assist with monthend stock takes
Monitor formulate and update internal controls within the lodge; conduct documented internal audits and spot checks as necessary
Practice professional scepticism on a daytoday basis
Investigate and follow up on any occurrences where the company may suffer losses
Ensure company assets are properly recorded safeguarded and cared for by those responsible for their custody
Take full responsibility for petty cash mobile wallets and company bank accounts
Perform regular audits on safari shop systems and processes
Ensure that expenditure is kept in line with the budget
Maintain accurate documentation
Training:
Assist staff with PanStrat training
Train lodge staff members in accounting principles
Review and train Front of House systems
Knowledge Required (Qualifications or Training Programs):
3 years finance degree or relevant qualification (preference will be given to candidates with a CPA)
34 years relevant experience
Microsoft Office literate (Excel basics essential)
PanStrat experience preferred
Fluent in English (oral and written)
