Job Description:

The Prestigious Awards Advisor serves as the first point of contact for identifying and recruiting undergraduate and graduate students to apply for nationally and internationally competitive fellowships and scholarships such as the Rhodes Goldwater Truman Marshall and Fulbright U.S. Student Program. This position supports students throughout the application process for awards that contribute to the academic prestige of the university. Responsibilities include oneonone and group advising teaching workshops for prospective applicants improving outreach to academic departments and colleges to identify top talent and coordinating campuswide selection and endorsement processes.

Under the supervision of the Lecturer and Director of Scholar Development (current title: Director of the McNair Scholars Program) the advisor will guide students in understanding scholarship criteria and engage them in academic development activities that support success in their chosen disciplines. The advisor serves as a mentor throughout the application process helping students refine their goals and narratives to align with award expectations.

The advisor must have strong skills in teaching students to write and communicate effectively for scholarly and professional audiences including providing thoughtful written and verbal feedback on application materials. A broad understanding of the universitys academic disciplines is essential as the advisor will organize faculty screening committees based on students academic interests curate appropriate interview questions and draft institutional endorsement letters for the Provost or Presidents office as required by specific awards.

This position is housed in UF Student Success a unit within the Office of the Provost that collaborates with the campus community to enhance undergraduate learning and achievement. Staff in UF Student Success support institutional initiatives by serving on committees advising students and teaching interdisciplinary courses and programs. Their work fosters strong connections among administration faculty staff and students promotes academic persistence and excellence and advances the universitys mission and core values in support of undergraduate education.

The advisor will also assist the Associate Provost and Senior Associate In for UF Student Success in supporting universitywide academic advising and student success initiatives. These may include Preview advising and presentations academic coaching and other duties as assigned.

Applicants should be detailoriented and demonstrate the following qualities: a strong ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fastpaced dynamic environment; prior experience in advising or mentoring roles; and the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.

Expected Salary:

$60000 $70000 annually; commensurate with education and experience.

Required Qualifications:

Masters degree and three years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience teaching advising or mentoring students in a higher education setting. Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a strong ability to provide constructive academic feedback. Experience planning and delivering educational programs or workshops. Ability to work collaboratively with faculty staff and university leadership. Strong organizational and time management skills.

Preferred:

Knowledge of national and international prestigious awards. Experience advising or mentoring students applying for competitive scholarships fellowships or graduate programs. Experience coordinating selection committees faculty review panels or mock interviews. Familiarity with assessment program evaluation or data tracking in an academic setting.

Degrees earned from an educational institution outside of the United States are required to be evaluated by a professional credentialing service provider approved by the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES) which can be found at must be submitted by 11:55 p.m. (ET) of the posting end date.
