Assistant Coaches - All Sports All Seasons (Middle School and Upper School)

Position Description: The Shipley School is looking for ASSISTANT COACHES for ALL SPORTS for ALL SEASONS. An Assistant Coach is integral to the development of our studentathletes as they strive towards achieving their full potential and a continued love for the sport. In this role an assistant coach will support the Head Coach in organizing and executing practice and game plans. In some instances our assistant coaches may have opportunities to lead offseason training programs and camps.

Major Responsibilities:

• Follows and upholds policies and mission statement of The Shipley School
• Contribute to the planning practice sessions and competitions
• Instruct and demonstrate skill sets and techniques necessary for development and athletic achievement in the sport
• Travel to and from offsite locations (practice or contests) with studentathlete
• Recruit studentathletes of all ages for application to Shipley
• Demonstrate good sportsmanship and maintain appropriate conduct towards the studentathletes opposing team officials spectators etc.
• Ensure a positive environment free of hazing harassment bullying and intimidating language and behaviors aligned with our Community Commitment.

Qualifications:

• Prior coaching experience in the sport experience as a competitor is preferred but not required
• Knowledge of the rules and regulations of the sport at the high school level
• Prior experience working in an educational setting is preferred but not required
• Ability to foster a positive team spirit as well as individual skill improvement
• Availability to work a flexible schedule that includes some nights and weekends
• Ability to be outside for prolonged periods of time in a variety of weather conditions
• First Aid and CPR training or have the ability to be trained
• Ability to drive a 9 passenger van
