Description

As atest engineeryou will support the testing of space flight and nonspace flight hardware for the NASA Environmental Test branch at Marshall Space Flight test engineer will:

Support thermal testing in the environmental test vacuum chambers.

Support aerodynamic testing in wind tunnel.

Support fluid dynamics test operations.

Review test requirements and develop test plans.

Design/review test facility drawings.

Configuration control and documentation.

Review test data.

Job Duties will include:

Coordination with NASA project level customers across organizations to ensure mission success.

Work with a diverse team of civil servants and contractors to design develop setup and perform wind tunnel and fluid dynamic.

Participate in safety meetings task meetings design reviews and test readiness reviews as requested to support ASED and customer requirements.

Develop and deliver reports and presentations as requested to support ASED and customer requirements via Power Point and other various software packages.

Perform safety and certification training to support ASED and customer requirements.

Familiarity with OSHA and ANSI standards.

Minimum travel required.

Essential Functions

Work Environment:

Office and Laboratory environment. Requires ability to provide clear concise accurate and timely communication both verbally and in writing (100%). Requires ability to interact professionally with coworkers management and client (100%). Requires travel in the domestic USA (<10%).

Physical Requirements:

Requires sitting for extended periods of time in meetings with peers management and with our client at NASA facilities to discuss technical issues (10%). Also requires sitting for extended periods of time at a desk to write reports and perform engineering tasks (80%). Requires ability to use stairs or elevators for access between floors and multiple buildings at NASA and our facilities (10%).

Equipment and Machines:

Requires ability to operate a personal computer a telephone fax machine copier calculator and other general office equipment (100%).

Attendance:

Normal workday 7:304:30 Monday thru Friday. Minimal overtime may be required (10%) to meet schedule milestones and to support technical demands of the job. Regular attendance is a necessity and adequate arrangements for delegating duties during absences are required.

Other Essential Functions:

The ability to work independently with minimal supervision and to make rational decisions and to exercise good judgment is essential (100%). Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard to the employee or others.

Proof of U.S. Citizenship is required.



Requirements

Basic Qualifications

Prefer a BS degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering from an ABET accredited institution with 05 years of applicable experience.

The ideal candidate will be an engineer with the following skills:

Proficiency with Microsoft Office products such as PowerPoint Excel and Word are required.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.

Experience with thermalvac testing is a plus.

Experience with AutoCad MicroStation or similar is a plus.

Experience with wind tunnels aerodynamics and Schlieren imaging are a plus.

Experience with applied fluid dynamics system analysis is a plus.

Knowledge of ASME Power Piping and Boiler codes are a plus.
