The Senior Manager of Accounting will play a key role in ensuring the accuracy integrity and compliance of the companys general ledger and accounts payable functions. This position requires a strong understanding of U.S. GAAP government accounting standards (FAR CAS) and experience working in a DCAAcompliant environment. The ideal candidate will bring both handson technical expertise and a strategic mindset to support monthend close audit readiness and accounts payable.
Key Responsibilities:
- Own and manage fullcycle general ledger accounting functions.
- Ensure timely and accurate monthend and yearend closes.
- Prepare journal entries account reconciliations and supporting schedules.
- Analyze financial data and present insights to leadership.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP FAR and CAS regulations.
- Assist with the implementation of new accounting standards.
- Manage the fullscale accounts payable and expense reporting process including oversight of the team reconciliations review of vouchers payment processing and corrections.
- Maintain accurate financial records and data systems including managing vendor files and management of the Vendor Maintenance process.
- Support external audits including financial DCAA and internal control reviews.
- Participate in system upgrades and process improvement initiatives.
- Conduct account research and handle adhoc accounting reporting and administrative tasks as necessary.
- Recommend and implement best practices to optimize efficiency accuracy and internal controls.
- Collaborate with FP&A Contracts Program Management and other departments to ensure accurate project accounting and to resolve issues and discrepancies.
- Promote a positive team environment through supervision and mentorship of the team to ensure optimal performance and professional growth.
- Conduct regular performance reviews and provide coaching to enhance team skills.
- Perform other duties as required.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Accounting.
- 8 years of accounting experience with at least 3 years in a managerial role within a government contracting environment.
- Strong understanding of GAAP FAR CAS and indirect rate structures.
- Deep knowledge of Deltek Costpoint accounting software.
- Advanced Excel skills and experience working with large datasets.
- Strong analytical and problemsolving abilities.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Strong relationship skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- CPA a plus
- Experience with financial audits and DCAA compliance.
