Aerospace Tig Welder 3rd Shift

Working at our Beavercreek Site:

GE Aerospace operations have been part of the Beavercreek community for over 70 years! Our Beavercreek facility manufactures gas turbine tubes ducts and manifolds and also has complex machining fabrication and investment casting capabilities. Product engineering new product development and testing is performed on site. This facility also does repair and overhaul of tubes ducts and manifolds. We have been awarded OSHASs highest safety rating.

Role Overview:

  • Welds together metal components as specified by layout blueprints diagrams or manufacturing operations sheet (MOS) using Tig welding equipment.
  • Connects cables from welding unit to obtain amperage voltage slope and pulse as specified. Starts power supply to produce electric current.
  • Manually guides torch along weld line maintaining length of arc and speed of movement to form specified depth of fusion and bead as judged from color of metal sound of weld and size of molten puddle.
  • Welds in flat horizontal vertical or overhead positions.
  • Examines weld for bead size and other specifications.
  • Manually applies filler rod to supply weld metal. Cleans weld joint or workpiece. Prepares rework parts for welding.
  • Positions or clamps workpieces together or assembles them in a jig or fixture.
  • May tack assemblies together.
  • Will use a computer daily (checking email viewing/downloading shop drawings and instructions)

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Will have the ability to perform the following:
    • Subtract multiply and divide fractions decimals and whole numbers
    • Apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions in written oral or graphic form
    • Apply learning and experience to deal with variables within specifications
    • Read safety rules in the use and maintenance of shop equipment.
    • Read related technical material and apply principles to daily operations (this includes reading and interpreting blueprints).
    • Accurately read and complete forms
    • Complete the Elano welding vision test (as a new hire and annually)
    • Use standards shop measuring devices (calipers and micrometers)

Required Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Successful completion of a TIG Welding Training Course (formal program)
  • Or previous experience as a TIG welder with 6 months experience
  • Successful completion of the UnisonDayton TIG Welding Assessment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Team Player and willing to operate in a professional environment
  • Takes Pride in the work they are doing
  • Excellent attendance and punctuality history and availability to work overtime as needed
  • Makes decisions based on experience and available data
  • Strives to meet or exceed job requirements
  • Able to work effectively when receiving general supervision (This involves performing routine assignments alone.)
  • Able to carry out operations according to set procedures or sequences.
  • Ability to receive and act on constructive feedback

Additional Information:

  • Wages $22.00 $27.56 per hour based on experience
  • Additional $1.50 Premium for 3rd shift!!
  • Able to lift up to 40 pounds. May occasionally lift 50 pounds (with assistance).
  • Your safety is important to us so we provide most protective gear including hearing protection if needed. Strong safety focus with daily/monthly reviews and we have been awarded OSHASs highest safety rating. GE Aerospace provides a $125 voucher towards the purchase of safety shoes as well as a voucher for safety prescription glasses if needed.
  • Youll be operating and working around moving machines standup forklifts mobile carts cranes etc. Due to normal machining operations there may be dust fumes or smoke (not over OSHA Permissible Exposure Levels (PEL)).
  • Team oriented ability to share ideas and make recommendations with peers and leadership
  • In addition to sitting and standing while operating equipment some activities may require standing in one place for long periods walking around or climbing stairs.
  • Most areas are climate controlled.
