**EXPERIENCE CREDIT:A maximum of two (2) years may be granted for experience outside the Beaumont Unified School District. Therefore an external new hires maximum starting salary for this position is $ 34.30 per hour (Range 26/Step 3).
GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
Under the direction of the Director of Student Services the Student Attendance Technician identifies investigates and assists in resolving chronic student attendance problems; conducts address verifications; performs a variety of duties related to attendance and record keeping; provides information regarding school or District programs and procedures.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Represents the District in interactions with atpromise students and their parents or legal guardians regarding attendancerelated issues; contacts speaks with counsels advises and provides support and information to students and their parents or legal guardians via telephone home visits or other inperson contacts to address chronic attendance issues; E
- Refers students and parents or legal guardians to support agencies programs and schools to address underlying problems with chronic absenteeism; compiles and delivers pertinent information and materials including court summons and proof of service as appropriate to students and parents/guardians; E
- Investigates and conducts via site visits address verifications to ensure that students are legally enrolled in the District in accordance with state laws codes and regulations and District policies and rules; within established procedures takes appropriate followup actions; E
- Conducts welfare checks on students who have stopped coming to school and who are not in communication with the school sites;
- Requests management input and approvals with regard to next steps; completes and distributes all required forms reports and other documentation and maintains current accurate and complete records files and reports; in compliance with state laws codes and regulations District policies and practices; E
- Notifies and communicates with other relevant agencies such as child abuse agencies police district attorney and probation officers;
- Investigates and assists in resolving chronic attendance problems; generates and reviews student attendance reports and other attendancerelated reports to identify chronic absentee problems; locates and monitors students who are not attending school as appropriate; E
- Coordinates and organizes School Attendance Review Board (SARB) proceedings; monitors and follows up with students who have been called to the attention of SARB;
- Monitors and reports out attendance data Districtwide and at the site level;
- Coordinates attendance incentives at the District and site level;
- Works with the Student Resource Officer (SRO) as well as the Parent Engagement Coordinator regarding attendance barriers and concerns;
- Works in collaboration with the Riverside County Office of Education (RCOE) Attendance Liaison as well as the Riverside County District Attorneys Office for support services to assist students and families;
- Prepares accurate attendance information and required documents and materials for School Attendance Review Team (SART) meetings School Attendance Review Board (SARB) meetings District Attorney Mediation parent meetings and truancy interventions; E
- Will conduct and facilitate site home visits to assist and support parents in understanding the Student Attendance Review Board (SARB) process and provide information on services available to eligible students and families;
- Refers serious attendance problems according to established procedures; assists in identifying and resolving problems of students with frequent absenteeism; E
- May transport students who are truant to their designated school of attendance during truancy sweeps in collaboration with law enforcement;E
- Assists with daily absence verifications as time allows;
- Provides technical assistance and training to school staff; E
- Provides training on attendance as it relates to District policies and practices Education Code and legislation;
- Provides training in reporting information into the Student Information System (SIS) at the District and site level;
- Creates implements and evaluates in collaboration with stakeholders the MultiTiered System of Support (MTSS) attendance District framework; E
- Innovates and capitalizes on creating opportunities Districtwide that promotes rewards and incentivizes positive attendance; E
- Establishes designs and implements attendance incentive initiatives Districtwide for the purpose of increasing Average Daily Attendance (ADA); E
- Attends and actively participates in meetings seminars and conferences related to truancy and attendance matters and communicates with management regarding information received;
- Adheres to the certificated and classified collective bargaining agreements;
- Performs job assignment safely for the purpose of protecting people and property; E
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
E Essential Function
JOB REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:
Credentials and Education:
- Graduation from high school or equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade;
- Associates or Bachelors degree desirable from an accredited university preferred;
- Any combination of training and education that could likely provide the desired knowledge.
Experience:
- Three (3) years of experience working with families in a home or school setting or social service agency preferred;
- Working knowledge of community resources child welfare attendance laws and regulations preferred;
- Bilingual (Spanish) preferred.
Licenses Certifications and Testing
- Pass a preemployment physical and drug test;
- A current and valid Tuberculosis (TB) clearance;
- Fingerprint clearance for school personnel;
- Must possess a valid California Drivers License during the course of employment and be insurable by the Districts liability insurance carrier;

- Principles of public education systems applicable portions of the California Education Code and legislation related to attendance;
- Social economic and cultural issues with minority ethnic and disadvantaged groups;
- Social emotional intellectual and physical needs of students and families;
- Dynamics of parentchild relationships;
- School district organization operations policies and objectives;
- Principles and techniques of establishing and maintaining good community relations and resources;
- Student and assessment databases;
- Standard office equipment and computer applications including Microsoft Office and Google Drive environments with expertise in Excel PowerPoint and Adobe;
- Modern office methods procedures and equipment including recordkeeping principles methods and procedures electronic filing systems archiving for records letter and report writing.
Ability to:
- Work through complex circumstances to support students with school attendance;
- Partner with culturally and language diverse populations in informal settings individual and small groups;
- Understand and implement Education Code and Penal Code laws as they pertain to students;
- Enact School Attendance Review Board (SARB) process:
- Present to small and large groups;
- Collaborate and support students and families from different social economic and cultural backgrounds including those from traditionally underserved and underrepresented populations varying ethnicities and disadvantaged groups;
- Work a flexible schedule to align with Expanded Learning Programs (before and after school summer holiday breaks and occasional weekends);
- Analyze data and work with staff onsite improvement activities designed to enhance the learning of all students;
- Work with deadlines and under pressure;
- Maintain the confidentiality and security of sensitive information;
- Compile and maintain accurate records and files;
- Analyze situations identify needs prioritize solve problems independently as appropriate and take appropriate action in a variety of procedural matters without immediate supervision;
- Read interpret apply and explain rules regulations policies and procedures related to public education and specific to Beaumont Unified School District; and apply them with good judgment in a variety of situations;
- Communicate effectively using a variety of mediums employing correct spelling grammar punctuation and vocabulary;
- Understand and follow verbal and written instructions in English;
