Compensation and Benefits:

Join Tiger Nation! BA Step 1 AnnualGross Pay for 2025/26 is $51305.00 ($42555 salary $8750 Annual Flat Salary Stipend). Salary placement is based on experience and education.

District contributes to health insurance upon enrollment.

New Teachers are offered a onetime salary advance opportunity upon hire. We want to assist in all ways possible through the transition into the teaching profession.

Paid Leave: 4 Personal Days; 9 Sick Days; 5 Bereavement Days; Civic Leave; and Professional Leave as determined by administrators. Certified staff also administer a Sick Leave Bank that all certified staff are eligible to join on an annual basis. Teachers who are parents or guardians of an FPS student can also use up to 4 sick days per year to attend FPSsponsored activities for their child.

Retirement: FPS is a member of the Nebraska Public Employee Retirement System and contributes to the defined plan per Nebraska statute

JOB TITLE: English Language Learner (ELL) Teacher

REQUIREMENTS:

Education Level:

  • Bachelors Degree

Certification/Licensure:

  • Nebraska Teaching Certificate with appropriate endorsement and level for area and grade taught
  • ESL or ELL endorsement required

Experience Desired:

  • Experience working with students either during college training or from previous teaching
  • Experience working with languageminority students preferred
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred but not required

Other Requirements:

  • Ability and willingness to work with students staff administration and parents
  • Knowledge of subject are(s) to be taught
  • Ability to individualize and differentiate instruction
  • Ability to plan lessons teach to an objective to have lesson at the correct level of difficulty to check for understanding during the lesson and monitor and adjust the lesson as necessary
  • Strong knowledge of language and child development
  • Demonstrate excellent oral and written language/communication skills
  • Demonstrate effective skills in assessment and evaluation

REPORTS TO: Building Administrator and Executive Director of Student Services

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The essential functions of each employees position includes (1) regular dependable inperson attendance on the job; (2) the ability to perform the identified tasks and to possess and utilize the identified knowledge skills and abilities to perform the identified work activities; and (3) the ability to perform the physical requirements on their specific job description.




Basic:

  • To provide specific instruction and academic/social support services for Limited English Proficient (LEP) students to help enable them to gain in English proficiency to achieve academically and to adjust culturally.
  • Assist the classroom teacher(s) in providing appropriate instruction curriculum assessment/evaluation and classroom activities for the ELL student
  • When applicable know the curriculum which is to be taught plan lessons which will result in the curriculum being taught and include appropriate testing instruments which will test the intended and taught curriculum; participate as appropriate in grade level teams building instructional teams and/or departments including the ELL K12 Department

Frequent:

  • Provide cultural and language assistance to ELL students who are not achieving at a level commensurate with their abilities due to limited exposure to the English language
  • Periodically assess ELL students English language ability to assist in determining eligibility for ELL services/program determine/develop language goals/objectives determine progress in and appropriateness of contentarea classes and determine how/if first language is interfering in second language learning
  • Create modify adapt curricular instructional and assessment materials for ELL students in order to address instruction/learning of content area/standards as well as specific English language learning skills including oral written reading and listening skills
  • Maintain and file test scores work samples and other documents/reports pertinent to the ELL program for district and state reporting student evaluation grade/progress reporting and teaching/learning feedback information in general
  • Assist with arrangement or provision of interpreting/translating services for parentteacher conferences IEP meetings and other relevant meetings
  • Develop and maintain a classroom environment which is conducive to effective learning
  • Utilize a paraprofessional (according to Nebraska Guidelines) appropriately for support in provision of ELL services and programs
  • Instruct assigned students and provide regular classroom support services atg the times and locations as designated
  • Serve as a positive role model for students including academic social and behavioral skills and assist students in learning the American culture including not not limited to:
    • Holidays and customs
    • Appropriate behavior for social/cultural settings
    • Appropriate verbal and nonverbal behavior in American culture
  • Collaborate with other teachers and specialists in planning and/or modifying instructional goals objectives and methods that represent the desired outcomes for the curriculum essential learning skills and individual student English languagelearning goals
  • Assist the administration in implementing all policies and/or rules governing student conduct/activities; develop for the classroom reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedure and maintain order in the classroom in a fair and just manner
  • Supervise and participate in fire drills and other emergency preparedness programs
  • Follow the policies regulation procedures and expectations established by the Board and administration.
  • Maintain complete and accurate records of attendance absences tardies and other information as required by law District policy and administrative guidelines/regulations
  • Attend staff meetings conduct parent/teacher conferences and participate on committees as required
  • Participate in professional growth through an ongoing program of workshops seminars conferences inservices and/or advance course work at institutions of higher learning
  • Complete special projects and perform other responsibilities and miscellaneous duties as assigned (i.e. extra duty supervision at school events etc.)
