Job Description
- Verifies patient information by interviewing patient; recording medical history;confirming purpose of visit.
- Prepares patients for examination by performing preliminary physical tests; takingblood pressure pulse height weight and temperature; reporting patient historysummary. Maintains patient privacy and confidentiality at all times. Notifiesproviders of pertinent patient information and followup.
- Assists assigned clinician with medical examinations and clinical proceduresincluding GYN exams pap smears suture removal dressing changes etc.
- Administers noncontrolled medications and injections including vaccinations asordered.
- Performs Rapid HIV testing as needed including pre and posttest counseling asrequired.
- Performs venipuncture and lab processing including completing requisitions andpreparation for lab delivery. Perform basic laboratory tests (HIV Rapid testsfingerstick glucose hemoglobin urine pregnancy test rapid strep u/aGC/Chlamydia etc). Reviews all lab work before it is sent out to labs organizingand maintaining existing lab forms scanning and data entry of lab results etc.
- Performs quality assurance tests on CLIA waived laboratory tests.
- Maintains and updates patient information in electronic medical record.
- Assists in organization of clinic exam rooms including cleaning checkingexpiration dates on medical equipment and stocking supplies. Communicatesinventory and equipment needs to assigned staff.
- Assists in clinic management including keeping patient areas clean and safe andworks with provides to effectively manage patient visit cycle time.
- Provides patient information and instructions.
$16 to $18 per hour depending on education and experience
- Prefer one year Medical Assistant experience.
- One year serving HIV/AIDS population.
