Minimum Qualifications:
SC certification in Elementary
Reading Recovery training is preferred
Experience working with elementary school students
Demonstrated success in motivating students who have had limited success
Knowledgeable of effective remediation techniques
Knowledgeable of computer technology and its application to instruction
Willingness to work with other teachers to promote interdisciplinary studies
Skill in interpersonal relations with pupils parents teachers staff and the general public
Outstanding references from current and former supervisors
Satisfactory SLED (SC Law Enforcement Division) report

JOB DESCRIPTION
TITLE 1 ACADEMIC INTERVENTIONIST
Purpose Statement:
The job of a Title 1 Academic Interventionist is done for the purpose/s of improving teacher knowledge and supporting students success in basic academics (e.g. reading writing and/or math) and social and emotional learning needs by supporting teachers with districtapproved curriculum; modeling the necessary skills for teachers to perform assignments; providing parents and administration information regarding student progress expectations goals etc.
This job reports to the Principal.

Skills Knowledge and Abilities
SKILLS are required to perform multiple highly complex technical tasks with a need to occasionally upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skills required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: adhering to safety practices.
KNOWLEDGE is required to utilize theoretical mathematical concepts; review and interpret highly technical information write technical materials and/or speak persuasively to implement desired actions; and solve practical problems. Specific knowledge required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job includes: stages of child development age appropriate activities concepts of grammar and punctuation.
ABILITY is required to schedule activities and/or meetings; gather collate and/or classify data; and use basic jobrelated equipment. Flexibility is required to independently work with others in a wide variety of circumstances; work with data utilizing defined and similar processes; and operate equipment using defined methods. Ability is also required to work with a significant diversity of individuals and/or groups; work with similar types of data; and utilize specific jobrelated equipment. In working with others independent problem solving is required to analyze issues and create action plans. Problem solving with data may require independent interpretation; and problem solving with equipment is limited. Specific abilities required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: setting priorities yet working with frequent interruptions as part of a team communicating with diverse groups and establishing effective relationships.
Responsibility
Responsibilities include: working independently under broad organizational policies to achieve organizational objectives; leading guiding and/or coordinating others; and operating within a defined budget. Utilization of some resources from other work units may be required to perform the jobs functions. There is a continual opportunity to have some impact on the Organizations services.
Working Environment
The usual and customary methods of performing the jobs functions require the following physical demands: occasional lifting carrying pushing and/or pulling; some stooping kneeling crouching and/or crawling; and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 10% sitting 30% walking and 60% standing. This job is performed in a generally clean and healthy environment.
Experience
Job related experience within specialized field with increasing levels of responsibility is required.
Education
Bachelors degree in job related area.
