Job Description

Position Title: Naturalist (Outdoor Education Specialist)Department: Teaching Staff Reports To: Head of School FLSA Status: Exempt Employment Type: FullTime YearRound Grade Levels Served: Kindergarten 8th GradePosition Summary:The Naturalist is responsible for designing and leading a naturebased education program for students in Kindergarten through 8th grade. This position supports Oak Meadow Montessori Schools mission by integrating outdoor learning into the broader curriculum utilizing the schools campus and nearby conservation land. The Naturalist will spend approximately 60%75% of instructional time outdoors with students fostering environmental literacy scientific inquiry and a deep connection to the natural Responsibilities:Plan and implement outdoor learning experiences aligned with Montessori principles and developmental lessons and activities across various content areas (primarily science and environmental studies) using nature as the with classroom teachers to coordinate interdisciplinary projectbased learning the schools outdoor spacesincluding trails woods and gardensas well as nearby conservation land for regular students in seasonal naturebased activities and ecological stewardship all outdoor experiences prioritize safety inclusion and ageappropriate and organize outdoor learning materials and respectful engagement with the natural environment and mentor students in sustainable with the integration of outdoor education into schoolwide events and curricular themes as needed.
