Job Type Description
Berkeley County Schools seeks a PreK Special Needs Teacher for the PreK program. The successful candidate is expected to teach the PreK curriculum to students with special needs including children with mild to moderate disabilities using or modifying the general education curriculum to meet the childs individual needs. The program is designed to prepare children for school by offering a range of experiences based on early learning standards. It offers a balance of activities including active and quiet times large and small group activities center times indoor and outdoor play times and childinitiated and teacherplanned activities. Berkeley County PreK programs use Creative Curriculum. In addition foster physical intellectual emotional and social growth; develop class and safety rules and procedures; monitor student progress; complete and maintain appropriate records; and perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned. A classroom aide is provided.
Salary Schedule
Berkeley County Schools Teacher Pay Scale based upon degree level and verified years of experience. 200day employment term.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily and demonstrate the knowledge and ability to be a qualified and effective candidate for the vacancy.
Holds or can obtain West Virginia Teacher certification in preschool special needs.
Ability to collaborate with others and work closely with the Countys PreK program director and staff parents/guardians classroom aides PreK team at the school and other pertinent personnel in order to best meet the needs of students. Professional traits such as strong organization skills flexibility patience and personal responsibility are important to be a successful. Effective verbal and written skills and interpersonal skills are required.
Additional Job Information
This is an itinerant position that will serve Inwood Primary Valley View and other schools as assigned. If a certified candidate is unavailable for this position then an applicant who is eligible for a firstclass permit alternative certification TeacherinResidence or a perm sub can be considered.
