New Heights Charter School is Massachusetts only public school that involves all grades (612) in the Early College approach. Nearly all our 11th and 12th graders are fulltime students on a college campus with younger students earning college credits at the school. You will join a committed creative team of educators who provide academic and socialemotional support to young people coming from highneed backgrounds ensuring they are college and career ready. Responsibilities - Assist students with their virtual learning in an in person setting;
- Provide substitute teaching coverage for teachers in the school as we transition to a hybrid setting;
- Maintain a current knowledge of all Covid and school policies/procedures and follow them accordingly;
- Role constantly changing to fit the needs at the time/stage of reopening which could include duties such as bathroom or hallway monitoring;
- Supervising students during transitions breakfast lunch and afterschool;
- Provides overall support to the student based on the needs of the classroom and the students Individual Education Program (IEP) and 504 Plans if applicable;
- Support students by providing oneonone and small group intervention and support;
- Maintain discipline and classroom control that fosters a safe and positive environment for all students and staff in accordance with school policies;
- Recognizes when teaching/learning and behavioral strategies are not successful and seeks the guidance of the classroom teacher(s) and specialist(s) to adapt assistance accordingly;
- Model nondiscriminatory practices in all activities;
- Communicating effectively with students families and colleagues;
- Participating in collaborative curriculum development gradelevel activities and schoolwide functions events and trips;
- Maintain and respect confidentiality of student and school personnel information especially as it relates to Covid;
- Perform other related duties as assigned; Qualifications
- Flexible and enjoys dealing with unpredictability;
- Regular and predictable attendance and punctuality;
- Prior experience working in schools and/or urban communities is preferred but not required;
- The ability to create and maintain a climate of respect and fairness for all students;
- Hardworking energetic and are willing to learn and adapt;
- The ability to maintain effective classroom management strategies;
- Experience teaching or working with middle and secondary school age children preferred;
- Strong organizational skills communication skills (particularly with children) and problemsolving skills;
- Evidence of selfmotivation willingness to be a team player and has a strong sense of personal responsibility;
