The position of Managing Cook II is responsible for performing skilled cooking duties including preparing cooking and planning kitchen clean up and other dutes as required.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:(These duties are a representative sample; position assignments may vary.)
Prepare food items according to standard menus recipes and verbal instructions using available kitchen equipment;
Deternimnes and orders selected menu items from central kitchen;
Operate standard cooking equipment;
Inspects evaluates and reports equipment and facilities conditions on safety and sanitation; suggests corrective action;
Assemble salads sandwiches desserts and prepares hot lunches.
Participates in the cleaning of the kitchen cafeteria and equipment; assure that standards of sanitation and safety are met.
Observes proper receiving and and storage practices;
Maintains accurate employee time records;
Requests maintenance and repaires of all equipment as needed;
Maintains current recipe file;
Opens and closes the kitchen daily;
Verifies daily bank deposit;
Signs off on work sheet;
Trains manages and supervises employees;
Performs initial openings and final closing of the kitchen for the current assignment;
Perform other related duties as required.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:
Reports to and is directly supervised by the Nutrition Services Manager.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE(positions in this class typically require):
Required:
High school graduation or GED equivalent;
Two years experience in food service including one year experience in quantity food preparation;
Possess a valid State of Washington Department of Health Food and Beverage Handlers Permit.
LICENSING REQUIREMENTS(positions in this class typically require):
None
KNOWLEDGE(position requirements at entry):
Fundamentals of cooking;
Methods and practices of ordering;
Producing and serving of food in large quantities.
SKILLS(position requirements at entry):
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing;
Ability to understand and carry out and written instructions;
Ability to maintain effective interpersonal relations with staff students and public;
Demonstrates multicultural sensitivity with the ability to effectively and collaboratively work with diverse populations;
Ability to perform all duties in accordance with all applicable Board policies and district and legal requirements;
Ability to meet and maintain punctuality and attendance expectations.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Positions in this class typically require: stooping kneeling crouching reaching standing walking pushing pulling lifting finger dexterity grasping talking hearing seeing and repetitive motions.
Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
May work outdoors in inclement weather. May require physical mobility to move through a school campus including up and down stairs and inside and outside.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Nutrition Services salary classification D ($ 28.38 per hour)July 7 to July 31 MFRI 8:00am12:30pm.
