Job Description

Burris Equipment as part of Alta Equipment Company shall be the premier supplier of highquality construction equipment rental equipment landscape equipment and sports turf equipment in Northern/Central Illinois Southern Wisconsin and Northwestern Indiana. Our construction equipment group is seeking a fulltime Tree Care Sales Representative to report out of any of either our Joliet Lakemoor or Waukegan IL branches. This role is responsible for securing profitable business for the company through proper planning adequate territory coverage and effective sales presentations. They are accountable for Tree Care and Landscape specific lines of equipment that Burris carries including Avant Bandit Gravely Stihl and Toro.

Responsibilities:

  • Secures orders conducts surveys of assigned territory studies product potential; locatesnew prospects and determines prospects needs; plans sales calls makes presentations points out the benefits of the equipment and emphasizes the advantages of dealing with this company.
  • Helps customers solve problems provides technical assistance as needed keeps customerup to date on new developments.
  • Keeps informed on new contracts and opportunities; settles complaints establishes andmaintains personal relations with customers; assists at exhibits demonstrations and meetings.
  • Keeps familiar with new products and competitors products keeps company informed ofchanges which can affect their performance.
  • Maintains a system for keeping literature brochures price sheets etc. neat and up todate; informs customers regarding catalog and price changes; studies financing arrangements.
  • Maintains records of calls makes reports as required works according to plan followsup on all leads bid openings and inquiries; controls travel telephone and entertainment expenses.
  • Accurately presents customers with quotations. Verifies all programs offered by the manufactures to present the best option to the customer.
  • Maintains required communications; advises superiors of all changes in their territorywhich can affect company success; cooperates with other company personnel.
  • Maintains a high degree of sales professionalism though study and attendance at meetingsand association activities where improvement programs are offered.
  • Sees that equipment is correctly delivered and meets all the conditions of the sale;takes action to render prompt service in case of any deficiencies.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Sales Manager.

Specifications:

  • Must be able to lift 90lbs 50% of the time in order to load/unload equipment.
  • Must be knowledgeable about the operation of a personal computer business system and Microsoft Office.

Distributor Relationship:

  • Cooperates with employees of other departments.
  • Advises company of all changes within given territory which have an impact on company success.
  • Accountable to the assigned Sales Manager for proper interpretation and fulfillment of all functions specific and general responsibilities and related authorities and relationships.
  • Coordinates activities and cooperates on matters of mutual concern with other department/functional managers.

Method of Measurement:

  • The attainment of sales revenue growth and profits.
  • The satisfaction expressed by customers concerning territory management and sales representatives assistance.
  • The satisfaction of management and other members of the company concerning performance.
