Job Description Summary
The Assistant Director of Leadership Initiatives will design implement and assess broadbased leadership initiatives for individual students student organizations fraternities and sororities and leadership teams. Working collaboratively the Assistant Director will utilize multiple theoretical models and frameworks of leadership development to create materials cocurricular programs discussion groups workshops and educational initiatives for students at Wake Forest University. The person in this role will work independently while also developing partnerships with colleagues across the institution. This position functions as a member of the Office of Civic & Community Engagement team.Job Description
Essential Functions
Leadership Education
Design implement and evaluate a comprehensive approach to student leadership development in the Division of Campus Life rooted in leadership development theory and frameworks for student development.
Design implement and evaluate signature leadership development programs including the Inclusive Leadership Summit ACC Leadership Symposium Presidents Leadership Conference and Leadership Kickoff and Workshop Series for Student Organizations and Groups.
Serve as the Program Director for LeaderShape Institute and coordinate every aspect of Wake Forest Universitys session.
Design and facilitate skillbuilding opportunities for students involved in chartered student organizations fraternities and sororities and leadership teams.
Develop and support cohort experiences such as Civic Scholars Emerging Leaders Program Fraternity and Sorority Presidents etc.
Track student involvement in leadership opportunities through The Link platform and assess opportunities for learning and impact.
CliftonStrengths
Serve on the CliftonStrengths Advisory Board and collaborate with partners across the institution to infuse CliftonStrengths into curricular and cocurricular opportunities.
Work with Orientation and Transition Programs to ensure an introduction to CliftonStrengths during New Deac Week.
Collaborate with departments across campus to identify and develop opportunities for students to engage with CliftonStrengths.
Develop and facilitate sessions related to CliftonStrengths for individuals groups organizations and teams.
Administer a shared assessment to measure learning and impact across programs and departments.
Planning and Assessment
Collaborate with colleagues in the Office of Civic & Community Engagement to identify emerging directions in leadership development for students.
Design develop and implement strategic initiatives related to leadership education in the Division of Campus Life.
Create communication and marketing materials for the area.
Maintain a website for leadership education.
Evaluate programs for impact and learning.
Other Functions:
Serve on a committee to award the Student Impact Awards in the Leadership & Engagement area of Campus Life.
Serve on various committees within Leadership & Engagement Division of Campus Life and Wake Forest University.
Participate in departmental and divisional planning professional development and teambuilding activities.
Required Education Knowledge Skills Abilities:
Bachelors degree in a related field.
Three years or more of professional experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to interact with multiple stakeholders including students faculty staff parents alumni and community members.
Knowledge of student development theory.
Understanding of relevant leadership models and frameworks such as the Leadership Identity Development Model Servant Leadership the Social Change Model and Transformational Leadership.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision on a variety of complex tasks.
Demonstrated ability to think critically and proactively solve problems.
Ability to demonstrate excellent communication skills both verbally and in writing.
Excellent organizational skills with accuracy and attention to detail.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software.
Preferred Education Knowledge Skills Abilities:
Masters degree in Student Personnel Higher Education or a related field.
Certification in Gallup CliftonStrengths.
Experience working with leadership development programs in higher education/student affairs.
Accountabilities:
May supervise student employees graduate assistants and/or fixedterm employees.
