Join one of the nations most comprehensive academic medical centers University of Chicago Medicine as a Violence Recovery Specialist III.
The Violence Recovery Specialist Level III (VRS III) position part of the Violence Recovery Program (VRP) a hospitalbased violence intervention program that provides support to those affected by community violence by acting as primary liaison to communitybased violence prevention/outreach agencies. Specifically VRS III will act as the primary liaison to communitybased organizations centered on violence prevention recovery and interruption by direct engagement and service coordination.
Specifically the VRS III will engage families upon arrival at the University of Chicago Medicine emergency department to provide crisis intervention and advocacy services and/or provide supportive case management postdischarge. VRS III will act as a liaison to community/neighborhoodbased organizations centered on violence prevention recovery and interruption. Engagement will primarily consist of phone calls hospital engagement and in the emergency room.
Qualifications:
Superior functioning in VRS II position for 2 year minimum OR 3 years of experience in social service or mental health setting (professional or internship level) with experience in crisis intervention AND case management OR Masters in social work counseling or related field with 1 year of internship experience
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
Proficiency in communication technology (cell phone and pager) data collection and service documentation platforms
Proactive learner that is comfortable working across teams in clinical environment to ensure real time communication and collaboration
Comfortability with work flow ambiguity and abrupt changes
Ability to work flexible hours including nights evenings weekends and holidays
Able to work independently with minimal supervision
Strong interpersonal skills and team oriented collaborative approach
Exceptional attention to detail exceptional organizational skills punctuality and record of reliability
Ability to maintain strong working relationships with staff in other departments relevant to the success of the work within VRP
Strong understanding of trauma informed care in service settings
Preferred Qualifications:
Licensed social worker or clinical counselor (LSW or LPC)
Familiarity with and experience working in Chicagos Southside communities
Medical charting experience
Extensive experience in crisis intervention case management and counseling

Compensation & Benefits Overview
UChicago Medicine is committed to transparency in compensation and benefits. The pay range provided reflects the anticipated wage or salary reasonably expected to be offered for the position.
The pay range is based on a fulltime equivalent (1.0 FTE) and is reflective of current market data reviewed on an annual basis. Compensation offered at the time of hire will vary based on candidate qualifications and experience and organizational considerations such as internal equity. Pay ranges for employees subject to Collective Bargaining Agreements are negotiated by the medical center and their respective union.
