Purpose: At Leavenworth Public Schools safe clean and wellmaintained facilities are essential to creating an optimal learning environment for all students. The Director of Facilities will be responsible for leading the operations maintenance and improvement of all district buildings and grounds. This role ensures that all physical spaces support the districts mission while meeting safety regulatory and operational standards. Salary: Starting salary is based on the Administrator Salary Schedule commensurate with education and experience.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of five (5) years of increasing responsibility in facilities management custodial operations or construction trades
- Valid drivers license
- Strong leadership communication and organizational skills
- Trade or technical certification in a facilitiesrelated field preferred
- Associates or Bachelors degree in Facilities Management Engineering Construction Management or a related field preferred
- Experience working in a school district or educational environment preferred
Key Responsibilities
- Facilities Leadership & Operations: Oversee the daily operations and maintenance of all district buildings and grounds ensuring that facilities are safe clean operational and compliant with all relevant regulations. Develop and implement preventive maintenance and energy conservation programs aligned with district goals.
- Project & Vendor Management: Lead planning budgeting and execution of construction renovation and major maintenance projects. Prepare specifications bid documents and cost estimates. Collaborate with architects contractors and vendors and monitor project quality and timelines.
- Staff Supervision & Development: Recruit train supervise and evaluate maintenance and custodial staff. Promote a positive and productive work environment emphasizing teamwork professional growth and safety standards.
- Safety & Compliance: Ensure that all facilities comply with federal state and local regulations related to health safety environmental standards and building codes. Oversee inspections maintain documentation and lead compliance initiatives including ADA accessibility and OSHA standards.
- Budgeting & Resource Management: Assist in developing and administering the facilities budget. Monitor expenditures optimize resource utilization and prepare financial reports and cost analyses related to maintenance and operations.
- Internal & External Communications: Serve as a liaison between the facilities department and district leadership school staff and the community. Provide regular updates reports and presentations on facility status project progress and operational needs to the Superintendent.
- Strategic Planning: Contribute to longrange facilities planning to support district growth modernization efforts and sustainability initiatives. Maintain all facility records blueprints and inspection schedules.
- Other Duties: Perform additional tasks as assigned to ensure the efficient operation of district facilities maintenance and operations.
Physical Requirements/Environmental Conditions
- Ability to lift move and carry objects up to 60 pounds
- Ability to stoop kneel crawl bend climb balance and reach regularly
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors yearround including in varying weather conditions
- Must occasionally work in noisy dusty or crowded environments
- Occasional extended hours may be required for emergency repairs or special projects

Duty Days: 12 month employee reporting 260 days per year
Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with the provisions of the Board of Educations policy on evaluation of administrative staff.
