Job Description

JOB GOAL:

The Fine Arts Lead Teacher provides leadership in the planning implementation and evaluation of highquality fine arts instruction across all elementary schools within the district. This position is responsible for supporting and supervising elementary fine arts teachers (visual art music and performing arts) coordinating instructional resources and professional development overseeing student arts events and showcases and serving as a liaison between schools administration and the broader community to advance the mission of fine arts education. The position ensures the equitable delivery of a robust arts education to all elementary students and plays a key role in building a sustainable continuum of arts learning across grade levels.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

This position is a nine and onefourth (9.25) month contract (190 days) plus a benefits package.NOTE:Precise placement within the salary range will be determined based on experience and LRSDs salary placement guidelines.FLSA: EXEMPT.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Masters degree (M.A.) in education music or fine arts. Valid Arkansas teaching license with an endorsement in music art theatre or another fine arts discipline.
  2. An Arkansas Department of Education Administrators Certificate or eligibility to obtain one is preferred. Orff Schulwerk certification (Level I or higher) is highly preferred for applicants with a music education background.
  3. Five or more years of successful teaching experience as a successful fine art instructor such as choir band orchestra or art teacher; and evidence of success in building a quality fine arts program.
  4. Must have excellent oral and written communication skills; with strong collaborative skills necessary to work with staff parents and community.
  5. Must be skilled in the use of technology including proficiency with productivity software (Microsoft Office Google Suite) learning management systems and digital tools used in the arts.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Assist the Director of Fine Arts in the planning development and implementation of districtwide fine arts curriculum that aligns with Arkansas Fine Arts Standards and district goals.
  2. Support and supervise elementary fine arts educators in music visual arts and performing arts through ongoing classroom visits coaching and evaluations (as applicable).
  3. Provide demonstration lessons as a Master Teacher in elementary fine arts classrooms.
  4. Coordinate and lead professional development opportunities tailored to the needs of elementary fine arts teachers.
  5. Maintain knowledge of current research instructional strategies and trends in fine arts education and disseminate this information to teachers and administrators.
  6. Coordinate districtwide fine arts events such as student exhibitions performances and festivals including scheduling logistics and communications with schools and community partners.
  7. Work collaboratively with other departments and schoolbased personnel to integrate arts education into broader district initiatives.
  8. Assist in the recruitment hiring and mentoring of fine arts teachers and substitute instructors.
  9. Collaborate with the Director of Fine Arts on budget planning and monitor the equitable allocation of resources materials and instruments to elementary schools.
  10. Maintain an accurate inventory of fine arts equipment and supplies and coordinate repairs or replacements as needed.
  11. Assist with grant writing special projects and community partnerships that enhance arts programming and expand access for students.
  12. Serve as the point of contact for elementary fine arts programming providing regular updates reports and advocacy to district leadership and stakeholders.
  13. Support communication and marketing efforts related to elementary fine arts including social media newsletters and family engagement activities.
  14. Promote and support vertical alignment between elementary and middle school fine arts programs to ensure a cohesive K12 arts pathway for students.
  15. Perform other duties as assigned.

Mental Functions Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to sit stand walk go up and down stairs operate foot and hand controls use a telephone and write. Occasionally the employee must lift and move up to twenty (20) or more pounds. In addition thispositionrequires accurately perceiving sound near and far vision depth perception handling and working with educational materials and objects and providing oral information. Musthave the abilityto work forthe duration ofthe daily contracted time and be physically present and at assigned work with only infrequent unexcused absences during the contract year. Additional technical skills knowledge and abilitiesmay berecommended by the immediate supervisor and approved by the Human Resources Director.
