Job Description

Summary:

Manages daily production function within a plant for a full shift or a specific area through multiple shifts. Typically reports to plant Production/Operations Manager. Directly supervises Shift Supervisors. Responsibilities include training employees; planning assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Specific Duties:

  • Supervise salary production supervisors to ensure role responsibilities are fulfilled.
  • Drive accountability within the operations department in all areas of responsibility.
  • Advise and assist the Production Manager as well as other upper management by doing periodic reports attending meetings in order to anticipate problem areas and take corrective action before serious problems develop
  • Responsible for achieving daily goals.
  • Drive open issues to closure and track fast response validation through the use of KPI meetings daily.
  • Conduct IPPM management by drilling down to root cause.
  • Work with opposite shift superintendent to achieve consistent practices
  • Advise and support supervision with performance counseling activities in coordination with Human Resources
  • Analyzes operations to improve safety quality and productivity methods of production communication and cost improvements
  • Supports launch and engineering changes
  • Attend meetings to report on production status and to receive vital information relative to plant performance and his/her specific role in improving that performance.
  • Monitor oversee and improve ODS/EIS compliance
  • Monitor MIRA data for compliance
  • Monitor training for compliance
  • Monitor eLPA compliance to ensure on time completion of monthly audits.
  • Monitor & drive rotation compliance and improvement.
  • Run preshift meeting with Supervisors Team Leaders Management and Quality daily
  • Assist Production Manager with resolution of UTalk issue and provide corrective actions.
  • Monitor and review manning with supervisors weekly to ensure compliance to profit plan RTO headcount to reduce waste.
  • Foster a team environment with all supporting departments through collaboration with each department.
  • Manage shutdown startup checklists whether planned or unplanned.
  • Escalate issues and parts shortages as needed to the Production Manager Operations Manager Assistant Plant Manager and Plant Manager.
  • All other duties as assigned
  • Safety:
  • Providing leadership in developing measures and practices that that prevent accidents and ensure compliance with OSHA standards. This includes: continuously monitor the workplace for hazardous safety and health conditions
  • Ensure safety and health hazards are corrected eliminated or guarded
  • Assessing engineering controls administrative controls and PPE on an ongoing basis
  • Assisting in the investigation of accidents. This includes:
  • Identifying hazardous situations that are associated with the accident
  • Having the authority to: Stop and prevent unsafe actions; stop the use of unsafe equipment and tools stop work and/or have employees leave a work area
  • Investigate all near misses and other safetyrelated incidents that have occurred within the incident area
  • Monitor the investigation of accidents and injuries; ensuring that corrective actions are taken; and provide recommendations for ways to prevent similar accidents
  • Ensure that all incident reports are completed in a timely and accurate manner

Reporting Relationship:

  • Reports to Production Manager

Experience Required:

  • Three to five years supervisor experience required (automotive manufacturing preferred)

2nd shift hours:

  • 4:30pm 2am Monday through Friday
