Job Description

The Office of FirstYear Experience at Texas A&M UniversitySan Antonio is seeking applications from qualified candidates for multiple parttime faculty positions starting Fall 2025. Successful candidates will teach our FirstYear Seminar (UNIV 1301) undergraduate course and participate in various professional development sessions. Multiple sections are possible for those interested in teaching more than one section. Our course is designed to assist firstyear students in adjusting to university expectations finding a sense of belonging and exploring different majors and career paths. The position requires onsite facetoface availability for teaching classes. Most sections are offered during the day with some evening class offerings. Successful candidates must attend mandatory instructor training August 1314th 8AM5PM.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Masters degree in education psychology counseling or related fields from a regionally accredited institution.
  • A minimum of one year of formal college or university teaching experience or five years of experience in a higher education setting.
  • Exhibit a collaborative style that facilitates cooperation and teamwork.
  • Experience working with peer mentors and/or student leaders in a higher education setting.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Doctoral Degree (Ed.D or Ph.D) in education psychology counseling or related fields.
  • Experience teaching nontraditional firstgeneration multicultural students.
  • At least two years of formal teaching in a higher education setting.
  • Experience with contemporary instructional technologies such as Learning Management Systems (Blackboard) and ePortfolios.
  • Effective communications skills.

Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled.

Finalists will be required to submit three original letters of recommendation and official transcripts from each degreegranting institution. Transcripts must be received directly by the Office of FirstYear Experience (see address below). Escripts and Erecommendations will be considered if emailed directly to the Director of FirstYear Experience (). If transcripts are from an international institution it is the responsibility of the prospective applicant to have the transcripts translated and evaluated by an approved credential evaluator. Current employees of Texas A&MSA will need to get prior approval from their supervisor or department chair.
