Job Description

The Inmate Services Technician performs specialized administrative and accounting work for the Detention Services Division of the Sheriffs Office. This position serves as the first level for intake of arrestees inmate money and property and maintains jail records throughout the inmates incarceration. This position is responsible for calculating an inmates release date in accordance with applicable statutes as well as determining whether an inmate is eligible for release from custody. This position schedules court appearances and prepares various documents and reports for the courts and other governmental agencies. This position is required to notify victims other County agencies municipalities or health facilities of inmate releases. This position is also responsible for analyzing monitoring and updating the custody status charges bonds and cash account balances for inmates throughout their incarceration which results in interaction with inmate detainees. Employee is responsible for balancing average daily deposits. Utilizes multiple computerbased systems to enter retrieve information relative to the inmate population and to compile statistical data. Work also involves collecting cash from the generalpublic and inmates preparing deposits. This position is tasked with answering incoming calls; receiving the public for inmate issues or problems; and authorizing and monitoring nonprofessional visits for inmate detainees. This position is subject to the usual hazards of contact with jail inmates.

Description:

  • Oversee inmate intake and release by reviewing file to determine if stipulations for booking and release are satisfied. Release inmate property and funds upon verifying paperwork accuracy and completeness. Prepare surety or cash bonds for release. Release all inmate property. Process various charges to inmate cash accounts.
  • Maintain database information by calculating awarding good time accounting for mandatory time and verifying inmate release dates. Analyze documents and enter into system. Add and release charges to inmate file. Prepare documents for inmate release upon verifying all inmate data. Interact with inmate to verify information dates and charges.
  • Convey inmate information by responding to inquiries regarding inmate details. Respond to questions regarding inmate sentencing and other situations. Schedule and document inmate court appearances.
  • Authorize nonprofessional off site visits for inmates. Verify visitors identity and eligibility for onsite visits. Monitor visits to ensure compliance with all protection orders and jail regulations.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Current Salary Range: $25.67 $38.51 per hour or $53395.21 $80092.82 annually

Polygraph test at hire.

CBI certification and Notary required within 6 months of date of hire.

Keyboarding 40 wpm.

Position required to work overtime. Shift work includes days nights weekends and holidays.
