About the Opportunity:

St Vincents Private Hospital Toowoomba (SVPHT) is the largest acute private hospital on the Darling Downs. We are a 189bed facility with highly experienced and skilled staff that work as a team to deliver the highest standard of healthcare to all our patients. Our services include medical surgical maternity paediatric emergency cardiac and rehabilitation. We are supported by comprehensive allied health services and advanced medical and diagnostic services. Pathology radiology and pharmacy are also available on site and our emergency department is open 24 hours seven days a week.

The Medical Director is a key medical leadership positionresponsible for clinical and medical leadership ensuring high quality health care and a culture of excellence in relation to clinical service provision across the organisation and in line with our strategic direction. The position oversees medical professional standards across the hospital enacts and provides advice to the Executive on professional medical issues including medical governance workforce education professional practice leadership development and medicolegal matters.

This role is a permanent part time position working 38 hours per fortnight. As an integral part of the Executive Team you will bring your passion for Clinical Leadership to the position supporting the GM/DCS and State CEO to engage our VMOs in the delivery of excellent and compassionate care by a better and fairer health and aged care system.

Things that work for us:

  • Specialist Registration with AHPRA (Medical Board)

  • Post Graduate qualifications in health business or management are desirable

  • Minimum of 10 years experience as an independent specialist with substantial previous experience in a health care leadership role ideally in the private hospital sector in Australia

  • Fellowship of the Royal College of Medical Administrators or working towards (FRACMA)

  • Demonstrated ability to develop and meet strategic and operational directives

  • Ability to engage VMOs to deliver excellence in compassionate patient care

  • Demonstrated knowledge of clinical governance in line with National Standards

  • A strong advocate for identifying new Models of Care

  • Demonstrated ability to strengthen affiliations with internal and external stakeholders
