Job Description
Were working on behalf of a highly respected multidisciplinary consulting firm that specializes in geotechnical environmental and civil engineering projects across the mining sector. Our client is seeking a Tailings Engineer to join their growing team and play a critical role in delivering innovative and responsible tailings and mine waste solutions to clients across the globe.
Duties & Responsibilities
About the Role:
As a Tailings Engineer youll be involved in the full lifecycle of tailings management from concept design and feasibility studies to detailed engineering construction support and closure planning. Youll work closely with a team of skilled engineers and scientists while also interacting directly with clients on complex highimpact projects.Key Responsibilities:
- Design and analysis of tailings storage facilities (TSFs) and mine waste management systems
- Perform geotechnical and hydrological assessments
- Prepare technical reports design drawings and specifications
- Conduct site investigations inspections and audits
- Liaise with clients to develop tailored practical solutions
- Support permitting and regulatory compliance processes
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to internal knowledgesharing
About You:
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Civil Geotechnical or Mining Engineering (or related field)
- 5 years of experience in tailings engineering ideally within a consulting or mining environment
- Strong understanding of TSF design dam safety and regulatory frameworks
- Skilled in geotechnical software (e.g. GeoStudio Slide FLAC PLAXIS)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
- Willingness to travel for site visits as required
