The Opportunity

Multiscale Advection Diffusion Analysis Laboratory (MADAL) is seeking candidates for a Postdoctoral Research Scholar position in the area of thermosfluids modeling based on the Boltzmann equation. This position will directly support a funded project that develops a finite volume discrete Boltzmann model for the thermosfluids transport phenomena in porous media. Core responsibilities include:

  • Code development and maintenance.
  • Generation and dissemination of journal and conference papers.
  • Proposal development and writing.

About the Lab:

MADAL led by Prof. Leitao Chen in the Mechanical Engineering department at EmbryRiddle Aeronautical University specializes in the development and application of computational models for thermofluids transport processes that feature multiscale and multiphysics phenomena for a wide range of applications including energy systems (including renewables) thermal management oil and gas recovery plasma physics and biofluids.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. degree in engineering mathematics physics or computer science.
  • Successful publication records in thermosfluids area.
  • Expertise in model development using lattice Boltzmann method (LBM) discrete Boltzmann method (DBM) and other kinetic models.
  • Solid knowledge of fluid dynamics and heat transfer.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as C/C Fortran Python Matlab

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in thermosfluids in porous media.
  • Experience in HighPerformance Computing (HPC) on CPU or GPU platforms.
  • Experience in mentoring of graduate and undergraduate students.
