Job Description
Overview
We are seeking a Patient Account Registrar (PAR) internally referred to as our Patient Access Representative or Patient Admissions Clerk in the Admitting Department at Riverview Regional Medical Center (Gadsden AL) a member of Prime Healthcare. As a Patient Account Registrar you will iterview the patient or his/her representative to obtain patient demographics.
Shifts Available: Days
Employment Type: Part Time
Hours: Monday through Thursday: 7:30a 1:00p Friday: 7:30a noon

Responsibilities
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (includes but not limited to):
- interview the patient or his/her representative to obtain patient demographics
- secure insurance information eligibility benefits and authorizations as applicable
- work closely with all facets of the Admitting Department including PBX operator function and reception areas
- must be able to operate a computer to input and retrieve data
- able to communicate with the population served utilizing age specific techniques from neonatal pediatrics adolescents young adults middle adult to geriatrics
- maintain proficiency in medical terminology
- special projects or other assignments may be given with expectations to be completed in a specified timeframe
- be available to work: Monday Thursday: 7:30a 1:00p Friday: 7:30a noon
Qualifications
Education and Work Experience
Before we go any further we do have some dealbreakers. You must have:
- effective written and verbal communication skills
- ability to multitask and prioritize needs to meet required timelines
- analytical and problemsolving skills
- customer service experience
- high school graduate or GED equivalent
Additional Qualifications That Are a Plus:
- previous hospital experience as an admission representative
- knowledge of medical terminology
