Green House Worker
Reports To: Greenhouse Lead
Scheduled Hours: 30 Hours per week
STATUS: Part Time
Job Responsibilities:
- Assist the Lead Greenhouse Keeper with plan layout and planting of garden with specific vegetables. This will include early season crops such as potatoes onions cabbage broccoli beets and a variety of green leafy crops
- Plant Summer annuals such as tomatoes squash zucchini cucumbers corn and ect
- Start vegetables in the greenhouse in transplanting
- Order appropriate vegetable seeds and equipment needed for a successful crop as directed.
- Upkeep on the greenhouses: This will include cleaning and servicing as needed and cleaning/sanitizing for the next crop
- Water/weed/fertilize garden as required for a satisfactory crop
- Harvest vegetables at appropriate harvesting time.
- Deliver vegetable products to various locations as needed.
- Good Communication skills with the ability to comminate in addition to following directions provide.
- Other duties as assigned
This position may require the ability to stand stoop or kneel for long periods of time and ability to work outdoors. Must have a passion for Native plants and indigenous gardening. Qualifications
Worker Qualifications:
- Thorough knowledge of the yearly cycle of garden/fruit/planting
- Experience in greenhouse and garden maintenance preferred
- Able to identify plant diseases and how to control them
- Knowledge of health and safety regarding gardening
- Ability to use various gardening tools
