Metrolinx is connecting communities across the Greater Golden Horseshoe. Metrolinx operates GO Transit and UP Express as well as the PRESTO fare payment system. The Yonge North Subway Extension (YNSE) team is seeking candidates for the position of Manager Stakeholder Engagement as part of the ThirdParty Coordination team. This position will report to the Senior Manager Stakeholders as part of a multidisciplinary project team implementing the management of high profile and sensitive initiatives on the project. The Manager will represent the YNSE project to external stakeholders municipalities and other project partners and will develop and execute strategic plans for issues escalation and resolution critical decision making relationship building and overall stakeholder engagementUp to 18 months Contract Role.
What will I be doing
- Develop and maintain an understanding of diverse stakeholder agendas and create positive working relationships to establish mutually beneficial opportunities discuss technical and policy related issues and foster collaboration with diverse stakeholders to mitigate project risks.
- Communicate regularly with various internal and external stakeholders municipal partners government representatives contractors and vendors to advise communicate educate negotiate and/or persuade on issues within scope of responsibility.
- Work with stakeholders to identify opportunities and roadblocks; apply political acuity and relationship management to ensure issues and risks are detected assessed and resolved.
- Champion issues management and escalation through established governance frameworks develops materials and leads briefings with project leadership and executives.
- Interpret stakeholder feedback and work with the project team to develop and translate technical information into strategic positions taking into account broader project goals and stakeholder relationships.
- Provide input to internal governance frameworks bringing a stakeholderfocused lens to technical decision making.
- Provide strategic direction to and oversight of community engagement public consultation and public communications activities.
- Develop and advise on commercial agreements with stakeholders; manage and develop the forms of agreements and supporting policies and guidance; support commercial negotiations for major initiatives.
- Develop processes procedures team workflows and structures to create greater performance efficiency and meaningful and trusting relationships with stakeholders
What Skills and Qualifications Do I Need
- Completion of a degree in Planning Economics Business Administration Engineering Public Administration Marketing or a related discipline or a combination of education training and experience deemed equivalent.
- Demonstrated experience leading strategic transportation and/or infrastructure planning and development projects/activities preferably in the public sector.
- Theories principles and practices of communication and protocol development and making evidencebased recommendations to support senior/executive level decision making.
- Excellent relationship stakeholder management negotiation and influencing skills and the ability to work in collaboration with colleagues contractors and stakeholders across organizational boundaries.
- Proven political acuity skills to recognize and respond to highlevel and sensitive issues; demonstrated ability to recognize and support issues which may impact partners and stakeholders.
- Excellent oral written and presentation skills from both a technical and a business audience perspective; ability to provide clear and concise answers to anticipated questions regarding project implementation procedures progress and status.
- Demonstrated commercial awareness to review and provide advice on commercial policies and agreements and support commercial negotiations with industry and stakeholders is an asset.
