Job Description
Position: SpeechLanguage Pathologist (Fulltime)
- Fulltime SpeechLanguage Pathologist position with benefits
- 200day contract with the possibility of additional hours of employment during the summer during Extended School Year (ESY)
- Start date: July 2025 according to certified employee calendar

- This position will be positioned at the districts Early Intervention Center which is presently located on the campus of John Sevier Elementary School. However this position may include other SLPrelated assignments which may include travel. Therefore personal transportation will be required and any workrelated travel will be reimbursed at the states current mileage reimbursement rate.
Education Certifications and WorkRelated Experience:
- Required: Licensed as School Service Personnel with certification in SPED SP/LA preK12 or Apprentice Special Group
- Required: Masters degree in SpeechLanguage Pathology from an accredited school
Job Expectations:
- Provide highquality evidencedbased speech and language therapy to students identified with communication disabilities and delays
- Provide therapy in a variety of settings to target functional communication and promote training for other staff members to facilitate carryover of newly learned communication skills; This includes the ability to lead wholeclass largegroup communication therapy sessions
- Conduct speechlanguage evaluations according to TNDOE guidelines and MCS procedures; Conduct evaluations in coordination with other disciplines
- Develop modify and follow Individualized Education Programs (IEP)
- Accurately track therapy attendance and student progress on IEP goals
- Provide highquality teacher consultation and participate in schoolbased data review teams to support student success
- Follow state and school district procedures for submitting paperwork and maintaining confidentiality
- Act as case manager for students with IEPs as appropriate and provide full case management support
- Utilize balance and flexibility in planning travel attending meetings and completing paperwork
- Follow all IDEA and TNDOE timeline requirements for special education evaluations and IEP meetings
- Ability to perform any physical duties associated with this position (e.g. lifting up to 50 pounds on a regular basis sitting for long periods of time walking or standing for extended periods of time etc.)
- Willingness to attend training and professional development on topics related to the field of speech pathology to support highquality instruction

- Demonstrate knowledge of the current best practices in the area of speechlanguage pathology
- Ability to effectively evaluate young children for AAC provide direct communication services targeting functional AAC use and provide other colleagues and parents with AAC training

- Ability to use data to guide instruction and engage students with various learning styles
- Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with colleagues and team members including parents/guardians

- Ability to identify areas and complete selfdirected professional development that will directly improve service delivery
- Understanding and use of technology to facilitate instruction and communication
- Ability to navigate TN PULSE efficiently and effectively

- Ability to demonstrate irreproachable loyalty to school staff and administration
