Job Description

The Supply Chain Optimization Technologies (SCOT) Buying team is at the heart of Amazons global inventory management. We build sophisticated automated systems that decide what to buy when to buy it and where to place billions of dollars in inventory across Amazons vast network. These decisions directly impact Amazons ability to delight customers and drive operational efficiency. As a Senior Business Intelligence Engineer in SCOT Buying Analytics you will lead complex data initiatives across Amazons diverse buying programs including Just in Time Advanced Purchasing and Global Ordering. Youll architect scalable solutions that provide crucial insights into Access to Supply metrics driving key decisions in buying and sourcing strategies. This role requires exceptional technical expertise to handle massive datasets while consolidating historically siloed data architectures. Youll collaborate with SCOT and Retail leadership translating complex analyses into actionable insights that influence product availability strategies. As a technical leader youll mentor team members and establish best practices for data architecture and analytics approaches.


Key job responsibilities
* Design and implement scalable data solutions that integrate complex data across multiple buying programs
* Collaborate with Product Managers Software Engineers and Data Scientists to build critical business metrics automated self service analytical dashboards and reporting
* Drive technical standards and best practices for the teams data architecture and analytics approaches
* Analyze relevant business data uncover trends and correlations and translate insights into clear recommendations
* Architect and maintain critical Access to Supply metrics defect attributions and deepdive analyses
* Mentor and provide technical guidance to other team members on complex projects
* Partner with leadership to translate ambiguous business problems into clear data requirements
* Champion data quality and efficient processing methods for highvolume data pipelines

A day in the life
You might start your day working with a teammate to optimize a complex SQL query then you would work with Product Managers to dive deep into data to explain trends in a critical metric. Later you could lead a technical design review for a new crossprogram metrics framework or you could present supply chain insights related to a strategic business decision to senior leadership followed by collaborating with retail partners to define requirements for a new selfservice dashboard.

About the team
Youll join a dynamic team of Business Intelligence Engineers within SCOT Buying Analytics focusing on datadriven decisions that impact Amazons global supply chain. Our team recently consolidated to bring together analytics across multiple buying programs creating exciting opportunities to reshape our data architecture. Were passionate about making data accessible and actionable whether its through selfservice tools or deepdive analyses. We value collaboration innovation and the ability to translate complex technical concepts into business impact.

5 years of SQL experience
5 years of professional or military experience
Experience with AWS technologies
Experience programming to extract transform and clean large (multiTB) data sets
Experience in scripting for automation (e.g. Python) and advanced SQL skills.
Experience with theory and practice of information retrieval data science machine learning and data mining
Experience with theory and practice of design of experiments and statistical analysis of results
Experience with data visualization using Tableau Quicksight or similar tools

Experience working directly with business stakeholders to translate between data and business needs
Experience managing analyzing and communicating results to senior leadership
Knowledge of data warehousing and data modeling

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $117300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $202800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on jobrelated knowledge skills and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered equity signon payments and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package in addition to a full range of medical financial and/or other benefits.
