ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL / PORTAGE HIGH SCHOOL
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Masters degree or higher in Educational Leadership.
- Valid Indiana Principal License.
- At least five years of successful experience as a classroom teacher.
- Experience in working with a diverse group of students in a high school setting.
SKILLS:
- Ability to work with students and build relationships.
- Ability to effectively communicate with all stakeholders.
- Ability to effectively present information to the Principal Superintendent Board of Education public groups teachers and/or administrators.
- Ability to use technology effectively.
Job Summary To use leadership supervisory and administrative skills to promote the educational development of each student the professional growth of staff members and foster positive community relations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (included but not limited to):
- Ensure the safety of students faculty and staff.
- Participate in administrative staff meetings and perform assigned tasks.
- Interpret and implement Board policies administrative rules and procedures.
- Communicate and coordinate with appropriate personnel issues related to administration personnel instruction schoolcommunity relations operations equipment and supplies.
- Complete classroom visits observations and evaluate instruction.
- Assume responsibility for supervision and student discipline.
- Communicate student behavior and concerns with parents in a timely manner.
- Provide leadership for instruction and school improvement as directed by the Principal.
- Assist in the development implementation and evaluation of the schools curriculum and instructional programming.
- Assist in the inservice orientation and training of teachers.
- Participate in community activities when appropriate.
- Focuses attention on students.
- Assists Principal in the coordination and supervision of academic and athletic events.
- Coordinates District Assessments.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the High School Principal.
